Hi there, I'm new to this site but i decided that i just wanted to get my views across and wanted to know what people thought about them.
I completely understand why Evertonians are frustrated or pissed off this season, we all are. But I feel a lot of that is being unfairly thrust upon Martinez. When things are going bad, the manager is almost always to blame, even if it's not his fault. We've seen evidence that Martinez can be a good manager for us. I mean he guided us to our highest points total ever in the BPL. But now that we're struggling, he's apparently the worst manager we've ever had.
Us Evertonians are well known for "fuming", and this could be a reason behind our poor home form. Usually when I see such a drastic difference in home and away form, I think of the players being afraid to play at home, expecting the moans and the groans of their own fans, and they hear it every time they make a mistake. While playing away, they can relax and not worry about any backlash. There's also the point that it plays to our advantage, counter-attacking football, which is easier to accomplish while playing away from home. That being said, we've seen Goodison become a fortress in the past, not so long ago, we nearly went a whole calendar year without losing a game at home, when it's nearly the complete opposite now. The reason? The large majority think Martinez is to blame, an easy option. I think there's plenty of blame to go around, the fans, the players, not just the manager.
I know I'm guilty of being overly frustrated and maybe being overly harsh on some players, but it's not just me. We all need to take a good look at ourselves, especially the players, and think, what can WE do to make this club great again. When clubs are in a situation like this, the fans can play a massive role in helping to turn it around. When the large majority of the fan base wants their manager to be sacked, it's like a cancer spreading across the club. The players sense the unhappiness among the fans, and it's hard to perform well when you know your fan base is angry at the fact that the man instructing you before every game is still your manager, then thoughts spread in their minds like, "yeah why is he still here, he's not helping us at all", ultimately it's very discouraging. We should be more worried about what we can do ourselves to help us get out of this rut, rather than focusing all our attention towards getting Martinez out of the club. He's shown he can bring this club to new heights, that potential doesn't just fade away. He's a very positive man, being exposed to a lot of abuse and negativity of late.
I'll wrap things up here, but keep this in mind, these are my opinions, the large majority of you will have conflicting opinions, so I know this won't be popular amongst you all, all I ask is that you kept an open mind while reading, and just give it a thought. Thanks.
