Really think we should be looking at Shane Long. Contract up at the end of the season (though he does have an extra year optional) and he almost went to Hull last day of the summer for £5m. If we can pick him up for around £3m then he's a better option than Jelavic or Kone.

3m for a forward who can't score goals, and has consistently played for relegation fodder teams, shouldn't we be trying to aim a little higher than retread players who almost went to the mighty hull fc

Think he will bring in Bruno marten indi as he bangs on about youth so it seems a good fit to have him and stones as future cb . Donavan will come in on loan as to fill the other wing for 2 months he will be a stop gap signing until the summer . I still think he will be looking for another centre mid like fernando who has months left or someone who's contract is up

Other than that I can't see major money being spent until summer when we have to bring in a replacement for lukaku and and a young winger

He scores his fair share given the amount that gets created for him, or lack thereof. He wouldn't have missed the chances Kone has for us so far.

He's never played for a relegation fodder team.

Not sure we need anyone really, not sure who id replace in our first team.
I don't think it's a case of signing players who will immediately come in and replace someone I think it's a case of signing players who can eventually replace older players like Distin and Pienaar. We also need to be looking to bring in players who can replace Lukaku and Barry (even though most expect Barry to sign for with us for next season he will be 33 in Febuary so we wouldn't get more than a season or two out of him).

You forgetting the fact he played 2 years for reading mate one of which saw him relegated? also played 5 seasons with reading in the championship which he amassed a amazing total of 20 goals in 102 games down their if you remove the aberration season where he had 23 in 45, which is at a lower level than 'premiership relagation fodder teams' also when he went to west brom every single person had them tipped to go straight back down so id class his entire career as playing either at a substandard level or at a caliber of team way below everton, unless you think we should be picking up players who arent good enough to get into the west brom first 11?

Prem record 25 in 125 games, and well aparently for decent teams not relegation fodder which makes that tally all the worse

Do we need another winger? Surely Centre mid, and an attacker are priorities with Gibson + Kone long term

Pienaar is getting on and I like Mirallas playing more central in the 10 roll with Barkley playing a more conventional midfield position. We can always change the setup too depending on opponent so I could understand us looking for another tricky wide man, especially as we have no chance of signing Deulofeu on a perm.

alot of people on here are saying mcgeady is rubbish? im sure SOME of these also said mccarthy was rubbish? i dunno...i'll trust roberto here i think

difference is mate, mccarthy is young and plays the 'unglamarous position' that often gets overlooked untilt heir doing the job for you, with a winger what they bring the table is a lot more transparent, mcceady is a poor mans lennon, all pace no end product and zero vision

He only played for them in the Championship I think.

He only played for them in the Championship I think.

He played two seasons in the Premier League with them scoring 5 goals in 50 games, he was pretty young at the time so you would imagine a lot of those apps weren't full 90 minute games and Reading were a poorer side.

He then scored 36 goals in 113 Championship games, 21 of those goals came in his last season there when Reading got promoted.
