Silly Season January 2014

It's back and not yet final:

Despite the usual protestations of Da Bruce, I have just confirmed that Everton are indeed attempting to swing a third January loan spell for Landon Donovan. What I do not yet know is how far or close they might be at this time, or how likely they are to be eager enough to get it done in the end. After this many go-arounds, none of us should be shocked if it goes either way.

Can't decide where we need to strengthen most?

Depedns if your talking about for this season or in preparation for next season mate, im assuming martinez has a very clear understanding on the situations vis a vis Lukaku, Delefou and barry and if any of them will be playing here again next season (barry i think we will get on a free and delefou another season loan, lukaku i doubt very much)

Striker. No question for me.

There is no alternative to Lukaku apart from shifting Mirallas there - and then we are hoping against hope Deulofeu delivers consistently and that both he and Pienaar stay fit.

I think Martinez might actually go for McGeady and feel he then has numbers out wide to look upon Mirallas realistically as a second half of the season striker should something happen to Lukaku. If he does that then he can wait until the summer and see what needs to be done next season and beyond striker-wise.

Id still love us to get defour mate, prob not the exact position we need atm but pure quality for not too much money

We must get a Striker in Jan

We need to bed a player in so he's ready to hit the ground running when Lukaku leaves in the summer

Liverpool rumoured to be after Luc Castaignos, the young Twente striker we were heavily linked with not so long back.

Not sure why they're letting him go, don't know much about him/Twente but it seems as though he's done alright for them scoring 21 times in 49 games.

Donovan on loan would be great, another game winning option.

Any money we have needs to go on a striker, there's about a 3% chance we'll sign Lukaku permanently, and we've seen what difference a top striker makes. I'd rather lack depth on the wings in favour of a top striker.
