And I read an Arsenal fans' comment on their transfer business:

" Jack Groves says...

ridiculous. arsenal needed at least two players. some of the current players are good but theyre not top quality players like arshavin. we needed more like him or fabregas who can deliver when the team needs them the most. we needed a strong, tall midfielder like vieira and another defender. perhaps even a big striker.

You what! Am I reading that right? He thinks Arshavin is just a 'good' but not top quality player????? I don't know why clubs bother really, with tools like this spewing bile.

And here is a classic armchair fan who just looks at other purchases and says 'We should have bought all them"

Jack -- (Arsenal fan) says...

i think vermaleen was a good signing but i think with the adbayor toure money we should have bought hunteelaar, dunne, vieria, krancjar and we should have challenged more for felipe melo hopfully we will splash the cash in january

Although a Milwall fan reckons we did the deal of the deadline day in Heitinga:

" Jamie Coombes (Millwall fan) says...

Everton buying the class of Heitinga was the best transfer of the summer. He is twice the player of any Man Citys defencive buys. Another shrewed signing by the class Moyes.

And this guy has fully bought into the delusion that City has presented:

" James Ash (Manchester City fan) says...

No way is Distin par with Lescott, he played for city for a few years and was average. Lescott is an international player, Distin is not. Everton have bought 2 untested in the prem, players with a chance they wont live up to expectations. I believe usual top four, and city and spurs 5, 6, with villa and everton 7, 8 C'mon city!

Why am I reading this drivel??????? I have no idea!

You were bored thats why you read it :D

Man city fans believe spending more money means you get better players, thats obviously not always the case. Nor are international players automatically better than non internationals. Steve Bruce never got capped, yet he was part of one of the best defences ever in the premiership.

He is saying that our players are good, but not top quality like Arshavin.

The Harvey, Kendall and Ball midfield of 1970 was world class but Harvey had 1 cap against Malta, and Kendall was never capped at senior level. Alan Ball was the only consistant performer in the England setup.

Everyone knows that Arshavin is world class, otherwise he would not be the current record buy.

No , you're not reading it right (y)

'some of the current players are good but they're not top quality players like arshavin'.

I can understand Arsenal fans wanting to buy more players though after selling those 2 for £37 mill , and agree another forward would have been useful. Arshavin is a midfielder after all.
It has yet to be proved he is a top quality player in the Prem, but the early signs are very good and would suggest he has what it takes in my opinion.

As for City, they've had Distin, and now have Lescott. It's excusable really for them to think Lescott is the better player, as after all, he did cost nearly £20mill more than Distin, and I believe Lescott to be one of the best in the Prem.
The other comments about our new players though are a little immature and naive.
Players don't get to play for Russia and Holland if they are below par, and it must be presumed that both will improve our squad untill proven otherwise, just like Arshavin looks to have improved Arsenal.

Looks like some people rate Heitinga , I think he's the new VDM purely because he's dutch. Is that racist?

For all the talk about how Dutch footballers play fan pleasing footie I can't think of one I that I'm a fan of, and there are plenty (VanPersie, HorseFace, VDM, Kuyt) that I despise.
