a friend of mine sent me that link, basically to summarize, those little electric scooter things called Segways are extremely useful for a lot of people with mobility problems, but because of dated laws, public places in the United States aren't required to make the same accommodations for them as they do for wheel chairs and such.

i'm not sure what the laws are like in the UK but i'm gonna guess they're probably similar.

i seem to recall a couple posters on here talking about themselves or people they know that have mobility issues (mostly in the kirkby threads and such), so i hope as blues we'll all take the time to sign the two petitions at the bottom of the page

They are expensive ($4000-5000) and they aren't meant for travelling on the sidewalk. Plus there are hardly any bike lanes that Segways can travel. They'll never catch on.

And they had that problem with the gyro's where they kept falling over. Hope that is sorted now.

Both my wife and I use electric scooters they only travel at speeds 4mph-8mph and are a boon but certain places there are problems where the kerbs have no gradient ,but all in all they are great but I can see future problems as some think they own the right of way and just sound their horn and carry on making no attemp to stop so pedestrians are at risk I suppose its typical we get a real help with mobility and the ones benefitting are the same ones who are going to ruin it ours cost£2000 each but because we bought two and paid cash we got them for£1500 worth every penny.(y)
