3) Beethoven's 9th symphony (esp Ode to Joy bit) - Beethoven (obviously)
4) Perfect Day - Lou Reed
5) Cocaine - Eric Clapton
6) Lust for Life - Iggy Pop
7) So Long Marianne - Leonard Cohen
8) Forest Fire - Dead Kennedys
9) Electricity - Captain Beefheart
10) Disco Boy - Frank Zappa
I just picked those out of the top of my head. All are songs which meant something at the time.
calafornia uberallis and to drunk to.... are 2 of the best of all time
They were a great band. Forest Fire is my all time favourite simply because of the sheer dodgy lyrics (almost, but not quite, incitement to burn out the rich) coupled with the wicked guitar on it. Imagine something like that getting played on MTV!
Link below is miming but pretty good and rather funny.
YouTube - Dead Kennedys (Forest Fire Studio Show)
And a really fun bassline to play at the start
Riders on the storm- the Doors (Not my fave by them but special memories).
Satellite of love- Lou Reed (live at Glastonbury- 92. Magic).
One step beyond -Madness (What great times).
Me and Julio- Paul Simon ( Ditto)
Good thing- The Woodentops (Ditto)
