Southampton Hummel sponsorship

Bedfordblue

Player Valuation: ¥50m
See Southampton have had the shirt manaufactiure deal with Under Armour terminated early and been snapped up by Hummel for £3.5m p/a.....
Puts our £9m per year into light.
Still a long way off the teams regularly finishing in Europe like.

I agree of course, but in terms of international marketing what makes Everton 3 x more valuable to a shirt manufacturer than S’hampton?
THFC supposedly get £30m per year from Nike, I don’t feel they are a far bigger team than us, but Nike are prepared to pay them 3 x what we get....
All I’m saying is the deal we got is I believe better than those clubs around us finishing outside of Europe.

I wouldn’t dispute that but in terms of international marketing what makes Everton 3 x more valuable to a shirt manufacturer than S’hampton?

Spurs should have had NFL, a Joshua fight and a few big concerts this last 12 months.
Their ground being covered in Nike logos etc.

Saints did have the Rolling Stones play there, but once were good to go at BMD we will reap the sponsorship benefits.

Saints don’t sell many shirts either.

I think Spurs are the biggest losers in this lockdown, so much potential income lost

They’ve been qualifying for the champions league constantly for years, have one of the most marketable English players and a state of the art stadium in the countries capital. In terms of marketability, they dwarf us.

Speaking from Canada more are likely to have heard of us than Southampton.

We had Landon Donovan and Tim Howard boost our profile in the US. We have the merseyside derby so LFC glory hunters know us. MUFC glory hunters know us from the Rooney sale.

We are still seen as best of the rest material on a level with Leicester. Both of which are above the likes of Southampton in brand recognition here.

THFC have been in Europe for 10 years so they are getting noticed but are the fashionable choice for gloryhunters that don't want to be called glory hunters.

I get that, my point is that unfortunately due to recent performances our position in the scheme of these things is more aligned with Southampton, yet the club have secured around 3 times the value from the same kit supplier than they have.
It was intended as a pat on the back for the commercial team while acknowledging they / we still have some distance to go in the world of kit partners......(once we start to deliver on the pitch)

We’re a far bigger club than Southampton though.

That’s that.

I could end my point there, but we’ve got a far greater fanbase than that of Southampton, our exposure is greater and that makes money.

Bet Hummel were pinching themselves when James signed. In all due respect, don’t think the would be excited for Salisu coming in, for example.

Kane, and Son also help. Tottenham is huge with Koreans in the South as well as south koreans all over the world.

Perhaps James closed the gap this year.

Perhaps it's just that they are in London. The reason for the large following they have in the states. Perhaps it's exaggerated in NY, but I'd put them behind the RS, United, and Arsenal. Maybe city, but honestly, I don't know one legit city fan.

Tottenham became the hipster pick because they're always on TV, and not Utd, rs, or arsenal and haven't won crap. So these precious yanks can guard against being called front runners and be "real" supporters.

Edit- left out Chelsea. They're also huge. Perhaps just short of Utd or even more so over the last decade and a half or so.

Said when we first signed up to them that they're looking to expand the brand and we're the biggest name on their books so they should push our brand a lot more.

Seems to be correct
