Spain v Russia

Jamo Martinez

Player Valuation: £70m
Difficult one to call this. Could be one of the games of the tournament or...
Not sure who I want to win either. Start off rooting for Spain for obvious reasons. I then get sick of the media hype and want them to get snotted. I always felt Russia, or the ex Soviet Union, were harshly treated at major tournaments. Always produce some classy players (and the old CCCP shirts were one of my all time faves), and I like the current crop too. On the other hand any lingering hopes of signing Arshavin could disappear completely if they advance in the competition.

Spain's clearly the favorite to win the match, but I got a feeling Hiddink's gonna pull a rabbit out of his hat and pull a draw. If for no other reason than because Spain didn't call up Arteta!

Hope russia snot them. I hate spain as the are the r/s of the euro's.

Plus i have a £10 on russia to win it.

An podolski leading scorer, an he is so far!!

i had a tenner on villa to score 1st woohoo:D

i also have a tenner on pavyluchenko at any time :dodgy:

Spain looks good but I can't believe that Fabergas is on the bench. Knowing Spain though, they'll win their group outscoring the competetion 14-1 then bottle it in the Quarterfinals vs. Romania/Italy/France.

I think Spain showed why Arteta isn't in the squad. They have some really outstanding midfielders.

I think its Arteta's pace that stops him from getting in there - and if they can leave Fabregas on the bench there's a lot of star players in that midfield.

But they destroyed Russia, just like Holland did against Italy.

Got into a talk with a mate of mine about how awfully far behind the England sqaud is compared to your Portugal's, Spain, Hollands etc. How can the national team expect to get to semi's or final when compared to that? We look wooden and have done for about 7 years.

Hopefully Capello can do something...I cant see it at the moment though.

Can't polish a turd can you. It's no coincidence that Spain have impressed when their players have started to spread their wings and play abroad. Ours just stay in the PL comfort zone picking up the big money.

You can make a turd look like a banana sundae though Bruce. And the beauty is you would never know until you took a bite.

I am not sure what that analogy is aimed at, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

The thought of chewing on a turd is always a pleasant one first thing in the morning
