Spain v USA

Jamo Martinez

Player Valuation: £70m
I'll be checking out Bradly tonight against Spain..
The Spanish press give a profile of all the opposition players for International (and CL) games, and the lad gets a good review. Summing him up as a defensive midfielder with a good touch and definitely an important part of the future for the American national team.

It's on at 4:30pm here in the States so I'm gonna try to get home in time to watch it.

I hope we fare better than we did against England but I'm not optimistic.

I would like to see Bradley have a better match though.

I wouldn't go so far as to compliment Bradley's touch. This is going to be an ugly game though, unless Freddy Adu pulls some serious magic out of his hat with no real striker in front of him (Eddie Johnson doesn't count!). I like Maurice Edu partnering with Bradley though in midfield.

Bradley's looking rather pedestrian with some reckless tackles. Gotta say, that Freddy Adu is really something out there. Just cant figure out why he was subbed at half time.

Something magic out of Adu?

You haven't watched him lately against real competitors, have you?

Adu was crocked after tackle from Puyol hence his subsitution.

Unfortunately, any chance we had in the match went with him as he was easily our best player for the first 45 minutes and kept the opposition on it's toes.

Much different 2nd half as the USA had no offense at all. None.

Spain also upped the pace and intensity in the 2nd half.
First half I thought USA looked very comfortable.
Have to see a bit more of Bradley to reach any conclusions

Trecker and Wahl are pretty good analysts of the national team.

Unless Altidore and Adu develop into attacking threats I think the US's only chance to have success in the 08 WC is to play Big Sam football, keep alot of players back, and play for set pieces and corners.

Though in retrospect we played 2 teams who have world class players away with Eddie Johnson as our "best" striker. Bradley is tired, Beasley is still coming off an injury, Bocangrea is washed up etc etc. Adu (and Lewis against England) were the best looking US players mainly becasuse they've been well-rested on the bench. I'd still rather drop a 1-0 result to Spain than get an easy 4-0 win against New Guinea or Gibraltar like Arena used to do.

Is Bradley going to the Olympics?

Don't know. He might be going but I'm not for sure.

And I'm with you on playing the quality teams along with England ( just kidding).

That can only get our players used to playing top drawer opponents so in the future, hopefully they won't be overawed by the big occasion.
