Sportin Lisbon technical director resigns after fight

Sporting CP's technical director Sa Pinto has handed in his resignation after getting involved in a fight with attacker Liedson, according to several reports from Portugal.

The reports suggest that Sa Pinto and Liedson exchanged blows in the changing room in the aftermath of the Lisbon side's 4-3 cup victory against Mafra on Wednesday evening.

Liedson and Sa Pinto allegedly started arguing during the match after Liedson criticised Sporting goalkeeper Rui Patricio, and the dispute continued in the changing room before eventually ending in a fight.

Sa Pinto had only been appointed as Sporting technical director two months ago. The former Portugal international was suspended for twelve months in 1997 for attacking then-Portugal coach Artur Jorge.
