It's hard to hear about all the racism that's been directed at Son Heung-min over social media but this has become the norm at this point. The football culture in the UK needs a reform, or even a cultural reset. I follow the NBA/NFL and racism over social media is very rare on those sports, and even then, other British sports like cricket tennis or rugby have very little racism as well.

There needs to be more work in educating football fans in the UK, that's the only way we can crack down on this. Getting social media companies to look after this, is not curing the issue.
As much as I dislike Son after his premeditated assault on Gomes (part of an ever growing list of poor 'sportsmanship'), no one should be abused due to their race.

There's an undertone of racism that seems to be creeping into the mainstream more and more often. Football should not support it and neither should we. How do we make our point over this with social media? I can only see the option of leaving social media platforms that aren't actively trying to eradicate it from that platform. I'd also hope that football in general can come together to do the same en masse.

Clever by Arsenal and Manchester United to guarantee continuation of their own local derbies. Only one of the Big Red clubs has chosen to jeopardise its local derby by signing up to this.

I am still angry about him getting angry about andre gomes brushing him in the face with an arm and then going after him with murder in his eyes, missing and hitting his own teammate who in turn clatters Andre thus breaking his ankle.

Then he had the nerve to put his hands over his face and act like it was the worst thing he ever saw and get sympathy for it without correcting the record by saying you know I meant to hurt him just not that badly.

He is scum.

So you believe him committing an accidental tackle on one of our players, means he deserves to be racially abused?

Quite frankly, mean words just aren't the same as as an assault that potentially takes someones livelihood away from them. I realize this will be a controversial take, but I prefer to reserve my sympathy for someone less odious.

More to the point, Twitter is a cesspool with racist stuff being sourced by any colour of people you care to name against any cour of people you care to name.

Racism is less of a problem now than ever, it is just that a few morons have a medium in which to be louder than ever.
