So Keith Wyness went to the house of commons and put forth his plan to bring back the terraces (on a smaller scale) and it appears that the club might well implement this plan and transform a part of the lower gwladys street into a standing area.
But why, I dont generally knock the club but on this occasion I have to query the motives of this decision.
The club could be looking to 'up' the atmosphere which is more often than not none existant but for two or three games a season.
The club could be trying to squeeze extra fans in through the turnstyles.
That last point led me to be critical, is it possible that the club could be looking to increase the capacity in the short term so as to fashion another reason for the move to kirkby, will it be a case of...
"we have squeezed extra fans into the lower gwladys but we cant do it everywhere, demand means we simply have to move"
Because as it is now, one of the main arguements against (the kirkby move) is the fact that we rarely sell out our full capacity.
It might be a bit far out, but could the decision makers at the club be so machiavelian? I am a little young to remember terracing as it was so cant make a proper judgement by comparrison. I'd like good views, good services, proper lavatories, good atmosphere, good access, good pricing, and most of all I want a really good side.
Is a new stadium a step towards all these things? yes it is. Will Kirkby suit everyone? no it wont. Is it possible to please everyone? no it isnt.
So its down to the club, they can deliver a solution to our current ills or we will continue to stand still. But they cant do it without the fans.
