So Keith Wyness went to the house of commons and put forth his plan to bring back the terraces (on a smaller scale) and it appears that the club might well implement this plan and transform a part of the lower gwladys street into a standing area.

But why, I dont generally knock the club but on this occasion I have to query the motives of this decision.

The club could be looking to 'up' the atmosphere which is more often than not none existant but for two or three games a season.

The club could be trying to squeeze extra fans in through the turnstyles.

That last point led me to be critical, is it possible that the club could be looking to increase the capacity in the short term so as to fashion another reason for the move to kirkby, will it be a case of...

"we have squeezed extra fans into the lower gwladys but we cant do it everywhere, demand means we simply have to move"

Because as it is now, one of the main arguements against (the kirkby move) is the fact that we rarely sell out our full capacity.

It might be a bit far out, but could the decision makers at the club be so machiavelian? I am a little young to remember terracing as it was so cant make a proper judgement by comparrison. I'd like good views, good services, proper lavatories, good atmosphere, good access, good pricing, and most of all I want a really good side.

Is a new stadium a step towards all these things? yes it is. Will Kirkby suit everyone? no it wont. Is it possible to please everyone? no it isnt.

So its down to the club, they can deliver a solution to our current ills or we will continue to stand still. But they cant do it without the fans.

Alot of people will tell you that terraces weren't ever that great, for example at least with a seat you get the same view every game. To me thats something I like and I wouldn't want to be herded into the ground like sheep.

Just to get rid of some seats, because then you can squeeze more fans which means more money. However as the ground at the moment is never a sell out where are the extra fans coming from. Also how do you segregate the seating part from the standing part so the ones seated can see?

This is absolute bullshit, makes me wonder actually about any new ground, are the club back peddling and looking to stay at GP with no improvements?, because they cannot afford to move.

just a point, notice from MOTD on the hammers game, their stands had unrestricted views, plus even Pompey are looking to build a new stadium. At this rate we will end up with the oldest and most antiquated stadium in the Prem.

The Everton allocation either sells out or comes close to selling out most of the time. The majority of the vacant seats are either in the obstructed views or the away support.

thats the thing, is the standing option being used to indicate a possible surplus of fans that wont take restricted views - but will take up good views and standing room only.
