James McFadden has been backed to transfer his international form to Club level with Everton.
The Scotland international underlined his status as a hero north of the border with a stunning goal in Wednesday night's amazing 1-0 victory over France at the Parc des Princes.
That strike moved Alex McLeish's men to the top of Group B in the Euro 2008 qualifiers. McFadden has now netted nine goals for his country from just 25 appearances.
He has scored some equally spectacular goals for the Blues, including last term's Goal of the Season in the Goodison victory over Charlton and a 30-yard stunner against Fulham in the 2005/06 season.
But his appearances and goals for Everton have been all too fleeting since his arrival from Motherwell in 2004.
However, teammate Alan Stubbs has every faith in the maturing McFadden to add greater consistency and new dimensions to his game for Everton.
He told evertonfc.com: "I saw his goal (on Wednesday) and I was delighted for him. It was a fantastic result and I don't think many people expected it - they probably didn't expect it to be honest and they probably would have taken a draw all day long. To come away with a 1-0 win is an unbelievable result as well and with that kind of goal as well.
"I think he caught the keeper by surprise because he turned and hit it so early but it was a great strike."
Having been so valuable for Scotland during the Euro 2008 campaign, Stubbs admits it is hard to explain why he has not become a regular in the Everton line-up.
He added: "It is difficult to say why it is with Faddy. I think he has become a more consistent player since he came here and it is just a matter of him transferring that brilliance we see from him into a more all-round game. I am sure he will do that. We see him in training and on his day he is a real, real handful but I think he would be the first to say he hasn't produced that consistently in games but he will do - I have no doubt about that.
"He is just trying to find a balance in his game where he can bring all his talents through."
