I saw those pics. The one of the druid and his bird kissing made me want to poke the bloke in the eye. Sadly, 15 years ago I would also have been there, tripping, antagonizing the police and visualising the new anarchist state of Albion.

Although I'm pretty sure Stonehenge was closed back then to keep the louts out!

The coppers would have been practising their roadblocks, CS gas and waterboarding skills on the fledgling tree hugger movement back then. No fcuker would have gotten through.

I always think of Spinal Tap when I see those stones. :)

You made me laugh there, Dave. The Stonehenge bit from Spinal tap was absolutely hilarious.

[when I used to hang around with travelers the police were so easy to wind up. It was always the girls that did it too.]

15" or 15' ...... it's an easy mistake to make.

That's right, Neb.

We ended up in a place called Hanging Langford.
Mushies and space cakes, listening to Wish you were here on a walkman.

Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.............

I'm going to a summer solstice thing at some hippy pub near me next week.

Can tell they are genuine old hippies because they got their dates mixed up and had it a week late :lol:

Lots of home made cider available and not doubt a funny smell in the air (and I don't mean the unwashed hemp trousers).

Should be a good weekend.

By the way, that speccy 'hippy' is blatantly an accountant from Surrey that has no idea what the solstice is but her friend invited her on Facebook so she thought it would be a great laugh to go and 'connect with her spiritual side' for the weekend.

Many years ago, I spent several weeks at Greenham Common at the peace camp and whilst the majority of women there were just ordinary students or whatever who felt very strongly about, er, well, peace, some of the women were like a throwback to the Sixties with everything being really mystical and 'far out' and stuff.
Anyway, when I told one of them that I was born at dawn on the 21st June, hell, that was it, I thought I was going to be sacrificed or worse. !!
I think they all thought I had some sort of special powers or at least that I SHOULD have special powers. Needless to say, they were all very disappointed when I failed to do anything out of the ordinary.

I had to come home in the end, despite my convictions, the mud, the cold, the harrassment, the conditions were just terrible but we got a result in the end!

Now, for anyone who knows nothing about the peace activities of the early Eighties, please don't believe all the Thatcherite propaganda that was put out. The demos were peaceful and we only got angry when the police beat the crap out of us.
