Manchester City have agreed a £52m deal for Monaco defender Benjamin Mendy. £45m paid by City for right-back Kyle Walker .

£97,000,000 on 2 defenders!!!!!!!!!!
And this is why it is going to be almost impossible to break top 4...where we are spending 100 million, the others will spend double that making sure they keep their superiority...we might close the gap in term of points but that's about it...best chance is a cup competition if we are lucky with the draw...long term we need all this good youngsters that we are signing to become superstars in order to challenge again in the league...but could easily take 4 to 5 years...

You dont understand, we dont need to buy a better squad than them, we just need to build a team that wins games.

City have spent over 200m on their defence in the last 2 years, it will still be utter tosh.

It doesnt matter what the teams above do or the teams below, its about Everton building a team that can win football matches, the gap is only in your head.

I only have two words to say to you. Leicester City.

5th to 7th unless we suddenly buy a few £50m players before the end of window.

...And even more so by selling our best players to our competition.

Thing is City over spend, so its possible to do it cheaper, as for the cup comps, that is where we need to put our main focus, all 3 are far more important then the league, like Jose did last season

This is it in a nutshell. We finished 15 points behind Liverpool last year but lost both derbies. That's a potential 12 point swing just by winning 2 games. We don't need to become overnight worldbeaters, just make steady improvement.
