I knowYet again
It's pretty rare.
I’m not sure either of them on their own would be the solution but if we could find a way to get both we’d have a lot of bases covered.all for Gyokeres and Ndiaye. Plenty of championship players have made the step up at a later age, Toney, Watkins, Bowen...
Just looks like a bum gas Internet rumour.Prince Rupert Tower reckon we are interested in Joaquin Correa
I'm guessing it is, a recycled guff rumour. Just thought I'd join inJust looks like a bum gas Internet rumour.
Yeah think it is pal...I'm guessing it is, a recycled guff rumour. Just thought I'd join in
Hard to imagine Everton bringing us news as pleasing as that...but we live in hopeI’m not sure either of them on their own would be the solution but if we could find a way to get both we’d have a lot of bases covered.
Expensive, late 20s, exactly the sort of thing we’re trying to cut out unless it’s a loan.
Well that example would be wrong because it was a free transfer.Tis, hence "shrewd". Gareth Barry is the obvious example to lead with.

Not to say we should build a team of free transfers old guys either but Barry and Tarkowski are at least not something we had to pay for and therefore aren't actively harming our ability to build depth.
I agree it's sometimes hard to translate Championship form to EPL it's a big step up. But there have been other examples of players who have stepped up, off the top of it head Vardy, Toney, Johnson et al every player you recruit is a risk, you have to scout thoroughlyNot over joyed by the links to Victor Gyokeres. He's scored 21 and 17 in the last two seasons in the Championship and is 25 years old. Based on the average drop off from coming up to the Premier League would suggest he'd be fortunate to hit 10-12. Better than what we had last year, but we'd have to hope for an outsized contribution.
For reference, some other returns in the Championship recently:
- Neil Maupay - 25 goals for Brentford in 18/19 - hit 10 once in the prem.
- Timmu Pukki - hit 29 and 26 in the Championship and followed it up with 11 in the prem bith times
- Che Adams and Jarrod Bowen both had 22 goals in the Champioship
- Solanke hit 29 in the Championship
IMO, the only type of player we should be looking for in the Championship is someone who is 22 or under, or if there was a striker that is a clearly suited to Dyches style (e.g. big and good in the air).
All to say it would be risky and we need as close to a sure thing as we can get.
If the idea is we'll be safe in 2025 with these signings I'd suggest the guy you'd have to turn around and start replacing in 2025 wouldn't be a good idea.
This is why age is everything. When you buy younger players you increase the odds that they won't need to be replaced in the next 3 to 5 years and on the occasion that they don't need replacing you can then build depth. Once we build some depth of talent we can actually remove ourselves from this year to year survival. 27 year old mediocre players aren't saving us.
OK those transfers had the no transfer fee. It's still saving money and for a club with none that matters.Kinda irrelevant isnt it? There is no such thing as a free transfer anyrate. Just that a fee to another football club doesnt get paid.
Paul Power, Andy Gray and Richard Gough being 3 more.Tis, hence "shrewd". Gareth Barry is the obvious example to lead with.
