cheers, it appears so but I don't think it would have taken a miracle worker to get results with what's clearly a half decent squad but he's exceeded expectations so far, my feet are still firmly on the ground though we've still got a long way to go. Also I genuinely think we could have the best squad in the league and the best manager in the league and yet we still could not get three points against Everton, yous lot are the ultimate bogie team, ya bastards
edit: yeah well the counter attack has seemed to work canny so far against Wigan and City. I like the rotation of positions O'Neill brings, swapping wingers and strikers around regularly, it can't be easy to defend against McClean one minute then Sessegnon the next, totally different styles of play to deal with

Steve Bruce? Is it fair to say you don't rate? I think you did the right thng getting rid, he was doing exactly what he did at Brum - got them middling along, spent some cash, then failed to get the best of his squad. And he spent far more with Sunderland and arguably had a better set of players.

don't rate is an understatement! I lost a huge amount of respect for him in the final few months of his tenure, even after we were beaten 5-1 off the filth a lot were calling for his head but I supported him, then we were beaten by them again at home this season and then Brighton in the cup the following week with no strikers on the pitch and that signalled the end of any support from myself. It wasn't just the poor performances week in week out but his attitude, the excuses, he even resorted to blaming the fans in the end.
He then claimed he'd "never walk away from a job in his life" despite doing so at three or four previous clubs. He left the club with no dignity and the media's support for him was extremely frustrating.
