Brilliant player.
A big reason why the martinez system worked so well in his first season was we could get Baines and Coleman high up the pitch knowing we had this fellas recovery pace at the back.
We’ve had a lot of very good centre halves over the last 20 years and I’d put Distin right up there.
Would say that four of Coleman, Jags, Distin and Baines is probably the best defence we’ve had in the premier league.

I liked him. Also thought he looked a bit like Buzz Lightyear.
I seem to remember a European game when he mis-controlled a back pass on the half way line (when he was the last defender). The opposition player got to the loose ball first and Distin vainly tried to get a foot in/catch him - instead of just blocking him/taking him out. Get sent off FFS. Take one for the team! Anyway, they scored, we lost and that was Europe over for another season (or more).
