So now to the game, there was little to no joy for man ure going at lescott, time and again they tried but he was just too assured and quick, so they tried to single out stubbs and use pace to get past him, which they did BUT between yobo lescott and turner we we fortunate in real dangerous times and came through, SO then it was plan 'B' get men on arteta yobo and stubbs and make hibbert the easy option, single hibbert out with the ball and wait for him to make a [Poor language removed] pass or ten, mop it up and its pressure again and again and again....

Thats why sir alex is so good, he has the strength in his squad to force the issue where the opponent is weakest - hibbert great defender, woeful in possession.

stubbs, great defender, great header of the ball - now just that bit too slow.

Beattie and Mcfadden did [Poor language removed] all, but man ure were at a canter and had players back covering every gap.

special mention to manny, mikel, cars, vaughan, lescott, stubbs, and yobo... none of you deserved to lose today.

Ferguson/Heinze certainly did a number on Vaughan today. He started the game really brightly, winning header after header but then Ferguson got into the refs ear and Heinze started rolling about at every opportunity and they knocked the stuffing out of him.

As you said they put a lot of pressure on our less assured players. Hibbert, Neville and Carsley were put under a lot of pressure on the ball and didn't do a great deal with it. I thought Neville and Hibbert had poor games. Admittedly Hibbert wasn't getting great protection from Arteta but he was exposed time after time down his flank.

I suppose on the plus side we've shown this season that we can live with the best this season but it looks like results have really gone against us today and UEFA qualification is going to go down to the wire. Big game next week against Pompey.

If memory serves me right, it is the first time that Hibbert has made schoolboy errors. IMO not good enough for this level. Need more than being a so called great defender.
