Hi guys,

New poster here. I've not registered to post here before but I have a little bit of information, which may interest people. I live and work in Toronto, Canada. A friend of mine has a contact who works as an investment broker/banker in the City.

One of his major clients is the Ontario Teachers Fund. This is an absolutely huge, multi-billion dollar organisation, who are essentially the pension provider for most teachers in Ontario. The OTF are currently $1.3bn stakeholders in Maple Leaf Sports, the holding group who own the Toronto sports franchises, the Leafs, the Raptors, TFC and the Marlies. They invested $100m in 1994 and have seen that investment boom over the last decade.

They are now looking to sell the entire share in MLS, with Rogers Communications looking to buy them out.

The chap who my buddy knows, says that OTF are looking to reinvest in an EPL Team and we are the current focal point.

Obviously I have nothing else to verify this but my friend, nor his friend have any reason to lie. I also know that interest does not instantly mean a buyout and BK will do his best to **** it up.

Thought people would be interested in this little snippet and maybe, just maybe, we'll get lucky this time. Fingers crossed!!

I am amazed that a pension fund would be allowed to come anywhere near investing in a sports franchise(s).

Then again, maybe I'm not.

At any rate, welcome to GOT.

MLSE were linked with a takeover back in 2008

Teachers’ paid $180-million in 1994 to buy into what became MLSE. It’s looking to sell its stake for $1.5-billion, according to sources. At this stage, any future growth the pension plan could reap from its stake is limited and mostly confined to soccer, said one source familiar with the sports and entertainment company.
