Kinda ironic isn't it. It wasn't all that long ago that Michael Howard and his party were largely branded evil and uncaring for suggesting tax cuts, and now all parties are clamouring for them. The logic is quite simple and I don't feel I can say it any better than Milton Friedman.

There are four ways in which you can spend money. You can spend your own money on yourself. When you do that, why then you really watch out what you’re doing, and you try to get the most for your money. Then you can spend your own money on somebody else. For example, I buy a birthday present for someone. Well, then I’m not so careful about the content of the present, but I’m very careful about the cost. Then, I can spend somebody else’s money on myself. And if I spend somebody else’s money on myself, then I’m sure going to have a good lunch! Finally, I can spend somebody else’s money on somebody else. And if I spend somebody else’s money on somebody else, I’m not concerned about how much it is, and I’m not concerned about what I get. And that’s government.

Let us spend our money how we wish and you'll get best value. Nanny not welcome thank you very much.

forget congestion charges etc or the plates come off, sooner or later there will be riots again and mass demonstrations in this country.

what about the fact that we are no longer paying back america for the rebuilding of a lot of europe since the war. how much a year is that saving the nation ? where is that money going ?

Tax cuts don't work if you package them with a 33% increase in govt. spending like we've done for the past 8 years unless you are for drastically weakening the value of the pound and spending the next 2-3 decades using 10-20% of your federal budget to just pay of the interest of the national debt.
