Player Valuation: £60m
if we win against estonia then we go to russia on an astro turf pich!!!

the last time i saw an astro turf pitch in person was at deepdale(preston) and that pitch on that day made a big differance to the out come of the game!

but i havent seen or played on any of the new "3d" pitches but they surely can't be as good as the "real thing"!!!

its just the bounce, the run of the ball, the twisting and turning it just isnt right if you ask me!!!

Oldham had the first one if I remember right, ball bounced all over the place, Royle said in his biog that it was worth 10 points a season, they got relegated when they dug it up!, I thought they had been banned throughout Europe for all first class games, I'm very surprised by this:huh:

they have just said on football focus the the champs league final is to be played on this pitch this season BUT it will be on grass!!!!!

i cant work that one out me:blink:

It will make no difference anyways.

Mclaren is one clueless **** and he possibly couldnt do worse on this pitch.

When Celtic played on it during the CL qualifiers it looked rubbish, ball moved around really slowly neither team could put passes together effectively.

I actually think it hindered Spartak more than it helped them.

Slide tackling on those bad boys arent fun!

Oh, yes - I took a 5"x2" layer of skin off my arse sliding on Holyhead Town's artificial pitch. It was a hot day, and it hadn't been watered, so the pitch had taken on the texture and properties of a scouring pad. It stings just thinking about it. A bonus feature was the way my jeans stuck to my backside in the car on the way home. Just to make matters worse, I played on grass the next weekend, and managed to take the whole scab off, leaving the burn with a nice covering of mud and bits of grass.

As for England v Russia, I fear for England, partly because of the pitch and partly because of McLaren - I really don't rate him at all. Having said that, I'm not that concerned about Ing-ger-land, anyway. I hope they all end up with scabby arses (Lescott, excepted).

Aye just here checking on Fads really, I wouldn't worry about the pitch for the Russia game, it'll [Poor language removed] both teams over.

Will come down to who has the better players really.

Where abouts in Holyhead is/was that, down by the harbour or on the back road towards South Stack?

Not sure, monty, I don't know Anglesey that well, despite having cycled around it a couple of times, but I don't recall seeing the harbour, so the second option seems more likely. It was wherever Holyhead Town play(ed). A little ground with a small covered terrace on one side (it actually contained one man and a dog :D ). This is probably 15 years ago, so it may not even be there any more.

Didn't anyone notice how [Poor language removed] the Wembley pitch was on Saturday. If they can play on that they can play on Plastic. The pitch was terrible, it cut up all the time and probably was the main reason Ashley Cole got an ankle injury.

Also bear in mind this plastic pitch will be alien to all the Russians as well, although apparently they have been practicing a bit lately.
