Again if you read my posts I don't have a problem with it being desirable for immigrants to speak English . Every case has to be taken on its merits but I'd certain consider that as a factor

Not really mate, I don't think the students that voted for the Lib Dems were asking for tuition fee hikes or the people that voted Tory were bursting for gay marriage or Blair-inspired adventures overseas. I'm not sure we have much a choice

There is absolutely no problem with disliking any religion , there was a point made somebody who when asked to describe british culture and people embracing it basically used it to describe british culture as being "not" the negative points of Islam by listing them . it didn't feel appropriate , to me , to the conversation .

The blackshirt comparison comes from the fact that , whatever your opinion of Islam , it and Muslims are currently fair game . People simply wouldn't be tolerated with the rants that are daily accepted against muslims and the religion as a whole , it's currently the equivalent of Judaism of the 30's in that the media are regularly putting the boot in. The daily mail again strangely enough the same paper so supportive of the far right in the past.

Chris Patten (respect) still more of less cares about us (e.g. This incident in connection with the universal suffrage of the election of the C.E) but not the British Gov I think. They just want to trade with the Chinese I supposed. Money talks at the end of the day.

I actually understand some of the lads' concerns. In the same vein, we share the same problem if we compare the situation in UK and HK. Many mainland immigrants come here, barely rely on social welfare benefits. They don't work, they don't embrace the culture here and they live in government owned estate. And we don't have any say as to the quality and quantity of the immigrants.
