I think the millions of pounds pumped into the regeneration of Liverpool shows that her neglect is well and truly over mate. Scousers are on the whole, great, but Christ when there's a perceived wrong doing against them they don't half find it hard to let go and think about the future.
why must you persecute us ??? WHY ???

It's nice to see that Osborne has completely given up the "stop the benefit fraudsters" excuse and gone for honesty by screwing over the less well off in society good and proper wholesale.

Meanwhile, of course, ensuring tax breaks for the wealthy. Because, you know, why not.

The Thick Of It
'I've spent ten years detoxifying this party. It's been a bit like renovating an old, old house, yeah? You can take out a sexist beam here, a callous window there, replace the odd homophobic roof tile, but after a while you realise this renovation is doomed because the foundations are built upon what I can only describe as a solid bed of [Poor language removed].'

We employed around 8 polish guys to do refurbishment around our house, does that anger you? They all regularly came on time as well, very punctual.

Ive employed English people and they were all punctual as well. Are you English? Are you punctual?

When did it become fashionable to slag off English people. It just comes across as a bit Guardianista try-hard. Just saying.

A lot of it is to wind up small minded bigots, which is always fun. You can tell when they are wound up in real life as their face starts looking like they're chewing on a wasp.

(not satire – it’s Iain Duncan Smith!)

Neither of these photographs has been photoshopped:

Fritz Sauckel - Nazi Work Minister Iain Duncan Smith - UK Work Minister

Sauckel, Fritz
Hitler’s Chief of Slave Labour Recruitment, March 1942 – May 1945

Soon after taking office, Sauckel established compulsory labour service in Germany. His program resulted in the forced slave labour of 5 million people, many of whom had to endure cruel working conditions.

At the Nuremberg war crime trials, historian Joseph Persico described Sauckel as “….a little man with a shining dome, sad brown eyes, and a silly moustache patterned after the Fuhrer’s.”

Sauckel was hanged in the early morning hours of October 16, 1946 for crimes against humanity.

As far as I know – to date – there are no plans yet in place to hang Mr Iain Duncan Smith.

...the approach has to be a huge gamble in that's it's an undisputed cut for the poorer in society with a commitment to not cut taxes for the well off. He must think that those impacted wont vote for him anyway and those undecided will be swayed by his firm stance. I call it 'I'm all right Jack' politics.

By the way, I'm alright but he wont get my vote because I still significantly care about those who struggle, particularly the youngsters of today.

Its the differing ways of achieving the same thing isnt it? On one side, lob money at the problem, and soak the "rich" to pay for it.

On another side, create wealth/jobs through a growing economy, low taxes, and smaller government. I know which one works better in the long run.

And have an effective safety net for those who need it, not one that creates a dependency on it.

Because the second system betrays the very folk it is meant to help. And that, to my mind, is sick, twisted, and disgusting.

No good deed goes unpunished. Subsistance living will always be there, keep lowering the bar, great, but please dont be surprised when very bad things happen - to the vulnerable, to the weakest in society. When you breed enough hunger it is you that's responsible for the cannibalism that follows.

...I think this is more about reducing the deficit, but as you say there's more than one way of doing this.
