I'd always marginally favoured Labour because even this present market oriented new/neo Labour lot have a link with working class organisations (more tenuous by the year). But that Scottish referendum just about clinched it for me with them. They are now the party responsible for destroying the democratic dreams of a whole nation - a party that backed big business, the mass media and the military to snuff out the chance of a better future north of the border, and they did it by swinging to the right of the Tories and allied themselves with all manner of scum like the orange order and the BNP.

I hope they get battered in May next year. And those Scots who bent the knee and voted No will get the full blown Tory Government they richly deserve for their actions. That'll drive even more of a wedge between classes up in Scotland.

I was just thinking about the modern family. A lot of people, my step-mother included, have 6 kids from two previous marriages!

It's a difficult issue though because it's no fault of the children and they still need to be looked after. Personally I would remove children from truly feckless parents for adoption and put the parents on compulsory work programmes. But there are no real answers to this issue...........

I hope they get battered for different reasons. I think we are on the verge of getting a more distributed system of government which will be for the better. Certainly Scotland will have nothing to fear as they will have the power to do most things apart from deciding whether to declare war.......

...I highly doubt that. There'll be some concocted reason for avoiding extra devolved powers. The Scots were done up like a kipper...or at least the 'No' mugs were.

Again, its a system that was introduced for all the right reasons, but some who get it, (my sister for example) see it as much as an entitlement as those trapped in the benefit system at the other end of the spectrum.

Fair enough, perhaps I'm just looking at the issue as a single white childless male and would change my tune if I was a parent. I just don't see why parents want more than two kids and expect them to be supported.

No, the point I was making is that my sister, married to a BA Captain, works 2 days a week, with 2 kids in a Grammar school, in a £1m plus house, sees it as an entitlement.

But I agree with the 2 only. As a parent.

Can't the kids just be placed in workhouses?

Oh sure, he raised it from 40% on Treasury guidance. Which is why I said mainly. But the main beneficiaries of the pension changes he has made will not be his millionaire pals mate.

It will be the sort of folk I deal with daily. Normal, working people who have managed to end up with a few bob in a pension.
Ahhh, right - so it's not me that's talking codswallop then.

Education, but making that horse drink the water you have lead it too is another story.

Well he didnt introduce the tax. The Treasury recommended it rise cos it was designed to reclaim the lost income tax/tax relief if someone died early. Sort of. And it is/was pretty much voluntary, insofar that the surviving spouse/dependants had a choice to make upon death of the pensioner. One choice resulted in the tax being levied. 3 other choices did not.
