Oh for sure he's an absolute psychopath, you could see it when he was talking, but was well interesting to watch.

Horrible when that guy hit the bridge though.

Yeah made me feel sick....He obviously is a disturbed individual thanks in no part to a pretty messed up childhood....

For those that didnt see it heres the bit where hes flying down the Matterhorn <hornli ridge> at about 10 feet above the rocks...Ive climbed the Matterhorn, and its a feckin scary monster of a mountain but to fly down it at 100miles an hour dodging in an out of the rock pinnacles...loookin like a flyin squireel....feck me hes got a big pair

Nice one...never met him personally, but I know quite a few extreme sports nutters, and one thing I found was that they hold and value life more dearly than most, as they live on that instant where it could end at any time...However this guy Jeb Corliss was in my eyes somewhat different he really didn't come across as caring whether he lived or died, in his past he admitted to harbouring suicidal tendencies, which made him a kinda scary person....

Why would they put it in danger of ending sooner if they felt like that? I dont understand the mentality myself. A few seconds of danger to buzz off v life or limbs lost.

I guess thats what sets us apart form the extreme sports types and why we don't go around jumping off buildings, and stuff. I mean one of my mates is a leading Skydiver in the UK, has been jumping since he was 8 years old with his dad, has his own freefall display team and competes around the world, yet he has total confidence in his planning, prep and equipment, and as such he doesn't think that he will either be killed or will seriously injure himself, the thoughts never enter his head, yet this guy last night thinks about being killed all the time, and he just keeps pushing the envelope ...really wierd behaviour.

Good luck to anyone who has that type of confidence in planning. I dont pretend to understand it all, tbh. If my life depended on it I'd put a parachute on and jump out of a plane. feeling the need to do it time after time is all a bit strange to me. As for Jeb whatsisname - I recorded that so I'll have a little look tonight. (y)

my mate is really laid back and i think the world revolves a bit slower for him, where guys will do a big swan dive off a cliff, he will do a triple somersault, dial for an indian for when he lands, read the paper and then open his chute. he seems to have all day whereas others seem to have a fleeting moment.

on a school ski trip to santa caterina in italy, we skied a womens giant slalom course, we were flat out the whole way and inevitably he went flying round a corner and off the course, i came round to find him hanging upside down by his skis about 15 foot up this net, all he could say was, "have you got your camera"
he works in wengen as an instructor now in the winter and skis the lauberhorn on a daily basis, as well as the parachute skiing down the eiger.
