It's rubbish really isn't it?

I mean, yes, you'd want to win it, but FFS it's a pony old tournament compared to the old European Cup and the revamped early Champions League tournaments.

The group stages are barely worth watching; the KO stages have become predictable - full of financially doped English teams making their way to the SFs (and even the Spanish have fallen off the pace apart from a half decent Madrid).

It's just not a spectacle.

Of course, I'll PMSL if / when Liverpool get seen off this season, but this tournament is dead. The speed with which the scab Euro clubs wanted to ditch it for the Euro Scab League tells the story. The CL has to go or be revamped massively.

Same goes for the PL really. Only follow it because of Everton.

The final will always be a spectacle. But the tournament outside of that is now very poor.

The fall off in standard of the Spanish and German clubs especially has contributed to that.

I cant see this CL lasting much longer.

Same mate, nothing like it once was.

Can’t get stuck in, VAR, ridiculous wages and Instagram players, bad ticket prices, shocking prices for kids kits, slowing becoming like the NFL or something.

Feel more distant to the sport everyday.

Yeah I agree. I remember in 99 when man utd won it. Back then it seemed like such an achievement. The matches were all great spectacles with world class players fighting it out and so much seemed on the line.

Now I just don't watch the games, it's an absolute bore fest. Its become extremely predictable, we all know who will be in the final and probably could have called that about a month ago. A team like Chelsea winning it last season was a joke as well considering how bad they were in the league. Its only going to get worse as well with new rules in place with coefficients etc.

I think it needs to go back to the format of league winners only and then the secondary tournament can include more clubs. But nonetheless football is getting worse and worse. It all comes from an inability of the authorities not introducing wage caps or some kind of rules to make it more competitive across the board.

I've watched a the odd game here and there, but haven't watched a CL final since Barcelona beat Arsenal years ago. Its the same feeling i had with the FA Cup at the turn of the century in that it has lost its appeal and glamour. I've only watched the 09 final v Chelsea in 20 years in this competition too.

Having said this i find myself distancing more and more away from footy completely these days, as personally VAR was/is the final straw and has ruined the love of the game for what it is.

You can finish fourth in your domestic league, barely win any CL games against no hopers thanks to fixing, sorry "seeding", and end up being called the best in Europe. Dreadful competition.

Agree almost totally - but for me the runners up league is so diminished in this solely heartless, sportless money spinning format I'd enjoy winning the FA cup more than the EC.
