Yes one of my favourites too. Was lucky enough to study it for English Literature 'O' level in 1979.
.....I fear there has been more criticism than acclaim, many seeing it as a money spinner when the author was reclusive in her nursing home.
Go Set A Watchman was the original novel written, apparently. The publishers didn't like it but suggested that she had another go but setting the story around the time Atticus's kids were young.
Pretty darn good second attempt........
Great shame, terrific writer, Name of The Rose and Foucault's Pendulum are two of my favourite novels.Author Umberto Eco, most famous for The Name of the Rose, died aged 84.
