Wonderful times really. Everton were boss, for some of it anyway, music was electrofied and fashion could be ace.

Here's some of my favourite eighties things.

1985.jpg

My first one, I think I told people I filled it and even believed that blag myself but on hindsight - it was about 20-30 short.

Great World Cup. Mexico was that hot and exotic that you could almost feel the heat coming through our old Ferguson TV with the big f off buttons. Grainy yellow scores that used to move on the screen and crackly commentary only added to it.

Lineker was ours, all ours. The bad tit.

Films. Anything and everything was possible.

Hair, you always need nice hair to kiss girls. The 80s was no different.

I watched this at the Preston Odeon, it was that powerful a film I still remember it to this day.

I hated the 80s. There was no everton teams to watch on the tele, the music was horrid and so were the hair and clothes.

The only thing I liked about the 80s was that I thought it was a golden age of Sci-fi movies, fantasy and comic books. The special effects in 80s movies looked way more believable before fake-ass CGI ruined it all. Chewbacca would have been computer generated if Star Wars was made today.

D&D also saw the release of the DragonLance books and RPG campaign and The Dark Tower was the best board game ever.

Comics intern became more grown up. Frank Miller's Dark Knight was released. The Aliens comic books provided a storyline that should have been the template for the Alien 3-4. Mike Grell's Green Arrow was epic and no one drew NYC better than Eastman and Laird did in TMNT.

I wish MST3K was still around to do Krull.

Born in the 70's, hate most things 80's but the good thing about the current revival is it's making all the folk younger than me look like complete divvies in badly fitting skinnies and winklepickers.
