With all the hype about the Derby this story has slipped under the radar a little bit! Uefa today have changed the name, format, and format of bidding for tv rights for the Uefa Cup now to be known as the Europa Leauge.

Persuming we qualify for Europe next season i wonder wheather the new format and the intresting development of central collective bargaining like the champions leauge mean that we may be in for a bigger financial windfall?

Another intresting devlopment is that it say that domestic cup winners will no longer qualify automaticly for the Europa League, would this mean that the two places alocated for the cc and fa cup are fed back into the prem leauge with the top eight qualifying!

Hope so but knowing Platini, the remaining players would go to the fair play......

It seems weird that hes endorsed the collective central bargaining format, i thought he was against clubs having a bit of dosh! Hopefully we will get a bit of financial clout for this. Would be great if Sky or Setanta started a bidding war!

It says in that link that only beaten finalists wont qualify if the winners are already in Europe by some other means. Nothing about the actually cup winners not going in.

I must have read it wrong but lets face it the same thing, last year was the first time in Donkeys a non-C.L. team won the cup!

Im hoping all this could be good for us both on and of the field!
 

all of this extra money and crap that this new format will bring will mean absolutely nothing if we are not in it next season.
