The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

Most small businesses, and in the context of big business, most football clubs are small, insofar they have few shareholders, there are normally insurance contracts in place to enable surviving shareholders to buy the shares of a deceased one.

What you'd expect from a Kenwright flunky like Prentice. That was only written because there was a protest banner held aloft at West Ham. His job is to muddy the waters and suggest it's 'a complex issue' with all kinds of factors involved. Well maybe, but there is a hierarchy of blame and at the top of that pile is Kenwright and his shackling of Everton to two parasites just so he could maintain some form of 'control'.

The Echo are a disgrace. They'd be tearing the place up if LFC were 10 years without a trophy, never mind 20 years.

They haven't been critical of Kenwright in 16 years.

You really can't expect them to be critical of him right now, especially if recent rumours are true.

The article is sort of clever though, if you read between the lines. The passive aggressive digs at Granchester & Earl being billionaire EFC shareholders yet not investing in the club was good. I think it was possibly a bit too subtle though.

Regardless of what personal opinion anyone has of Kenwright, it's this bit I always find most odd.

If they're not prepared to invest, what's the point of them?

Exactly. I've always thought that too much focus is put on Kenwright, when we have 2 very rich people (far richer than Kenwright) under our noses, one of whom (Earl) is apparently a silent partner owning nearly a quarter of the club.

The Granchester stuff has long been a head scratcher, with multiple people often saying he didn't want to invest as he doesn't get on with Kenwright (allegedly). You'd think with his roots to Sir John Moores & being a billionaire he'd been open to it.

I completely agree.

And if people are saying he doesn't put money into the club due to a personal problem with Kenwright, then surely both men should put that to one side for the good of the club?

Why is the club lacking investment because of a personal problem? That's not fair. Am I being naive? I probably am.

so when kenwright looks back at his career as everton chairman he can proudly say that he was responsible for the period in everton's history that resulted in them having the longest period without any silverware

<clap clap clap>

It really is a disappointment because I think most of us do like BK deep down and would have loved nothing more than have him as our Chairman under a wealthy owner.
But when it comes down with it, all the failures, missed opportunities, lies, selling of all our assets and incompetence will give us no choice but to look back at his rein as a failure unless he wins something or gets a top class...I repeat TOP CLASS... stadium up and running for Everton.

Give it 2 more years, never mind 10.

Followed by a fan's view..

I like the last question..

Could the current crop of players bring silverware to Goodison Park again?
The current crop of players undoubtedly have the ability to win a trophy. But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, do they truly believe they can? I’m yet to be convinced. Years of having the underdog tag so often stapled to them by David Moyes, I believe, led to the club’s mentality changing to one that restrained our ambition.

I think the remnants of that still exist within the minds of those who worked under him which is why I have sympathy with Roberto Martinez in that regard. It must be difficult to change people’s ways of thinking having had a specific mentality drilled into them for 11 years. I also think it contributed to the club falling short in the race for fourth place last season.

Having said that, if we prioritise winning a trophy, there’s every reason to believe we could be successful based on the talent we have in the squad and the format suiting a relatively small group of players.
