Let’s not act the victim here, Everton were one of the traditional big five at the time who pushed for the inception of the premier league. We just had a board who had no idea how to run a business, no clue how to monetise the opportunity they had been given. And now it’s too late.
As for the Brighton comparison, they were in the bottom tier of English football not long ago with no ground and staring not existing right in the face. The fact they are were they are is a credit to them and, whilst they recruit well, just staying in the division is their aim ultimately. We’re Everton mate, a supposed giant of the English game and once revered around the world. We are where we are because of 30 years of chronic mismanagement and nobody will convince me otherwise. Remember it wasn’t always like this, in the 60s we were the equivalent of City and United, the Mersey Millionaires. John Moores would be spinning in his grave at that fat oaf who runs us now. Self pity will get us nowhere.
