The Everton Board Thread

I would think so if the general reports around these sorts of things are to be believed but the BoD are so arrogant they may not have had the foresight to do this….but even if they didn’t we would not be able to keep paying the salaries at those levels

I suspect most clubs don't usually try insert these clauses into contracts as it gives a bad impression that the club considers relegation a reasonably strong possibility. If a player has multiple clubs interested in signing them, and one requires a relegation clause and the other doesn't, it gives a strong indicator of the clubs thinking and optimism for the future.

The likes of Norwich, West Brom and Watford though? Almost certain regardless.

I agree mate I very much doubt this board of directors have inserted any relegation clauses and certainly not a 40% drop as some have suggested.

Yes absolutely….I guess it just depends on whether it is standard practice, if no then I suspect we may not have done, but I doubt any player who thinks they are PL standard would want to play in the Championship, especially if they are late 20s heading into their 30s. For instance I’d think Tarkowski would be off.

Newer contracts, e.g. perhaps those signed in the summer, may have such terms in their contracts, but the legacy deals will not.

Anyway, I wonder if Kenwrong will appear at Forest today, or is it still too dangerous for him to venture outside of London?

You suffer from something Matty called "scouse exceptionalism"

LFC - their fans think their club is the greatest, their fans are the greatest, all their players are world class, they are better than everyone else.

EFC - our fans think our club is the worst, the board is the worst, the owner is the worst, the squad are the worst, we're the worst club in the universe and if we go down we're dead because no one else has ever gone down in the 'istory of the game.

Not one team with solid finances, a good boardroom, clever owner and squad of good players who'll fetch £200+ millions in sales gets relegated - every single club that goes down is a basket case or poorly managed thats the nature of the beast.

So you can cry about it and act like the worlds ended... or you can pull your big boy pants up and hope its the start of the clubs revival and look to the future.

50% of the club's employees would be made redundant if the club were relegated

Getting relegated would be an unmitigated disaster for the club

If you think the abuse and stuff she has had is acceptable, then i would love to see how you react of ppl did or said the same a female family member of yours.

So for now trying to root out bullies and stop abuse against female fans and fans in general….im the bad guy.

Its nothing to do with the club this, its about human decency, and respect.

What abuse?

You keep saying "abuse"?

I've seen zero abuse. Just someone crying abuse when challenged

What next? Claims of being put in a headlock?

@Pabbers

I've seen absolutely no "abuse" of Melanie Prentice on twitter

She's claimed "abuse" when people have challenged her statements that are subtle implications that anyone that criticises the mismanagement of the club is "splitting the fanbase". She before Christmas was making subtle comments that critics were creating "unrest". She has done plenty of telling people what to think by implication. That they can't criticise.

But she would say that. Her husbands job entails attacking Bill Kenwright's critics

So she should expect to be challenged

That does not equate to "abuse"

Despite what she claims

MP: "You are splitting the fanbase and creating fan unrest"
Fans: "No we are not. The club is completely mismanaged by incompetent people"
MP: "Abuse! Abuse!"

🤷‍♂️

Another point. That Melanie herself tweeted.

"His role is focused on liaising with broadcast and written media"

This suggests that David Prentice was in the media room when the club handed out the statement to Juliet Ferrington (BBC), Greg O'Keefe (theAthletic) and/or the ECHO's reporter. Including the non written briefing of headlock etc

Plus was involved in the 17 January 2023, rewriting/commenting on historical events, the club only hours before said it would not comment on.

That in itself rather startling and the comments I've seen from people have actually been very respectful (indeed my criticisms keep in mind she is Dixie Dean's grand daughter, but I'm not going to allow that to stop me criticising Bill Kenwright and the mis-management of the club in any way shape or form).

The wife of the senior communications manager is implying that anyone that criticises the mismanagement of the club, is 'splitting the fanbase' or has 'split the fanbase'

Its simply not acceptable.

They, the fans and shareholders, pay into the club. They have freedom of thought and freedom of speech.

No one has split the fanbase. Indeed that is despite Bill Kenwright's best efforts to do so. Protests do not impact player performance nor signings.

Neither of the Prentices will stop the criticism. That culture that originates from Bill Kenwright is gone. Never to return.

People have the right to call a spade a spade and criticise poor running of the club

They pay into the club. They have freedom of thought and freedom of speech.

In fact the inhibiting of criticism (e.g. Cancelling the EFC Annual General Meeting etc and misuse of media) has actually damaged the club!!!

Agree on this, its not her fault how Farhad runs his club

Surely back to back relegations would put the lad in the "common denominator" bracket? He probably is PL standard but I'd argue it's touch and go

Why does Moshiri continue to allow him to run the club?

Because the club needs to be recapitalised as Bill Kenwright is a devious horror and can cause problems with creditors that could cause issues for the club such as finishing the new stadium

Hence MSP need bringing in to recapitalise the club firstly

Bill Kenwright is a complete disgrace

Worst Chairman in the club's history

I don’t think he would at all, he’s on huge wages here and will be 30 going on 31 and just been relegated in successive seasons.
