I have fairly modest expectations about the takeover. I don't see it as a big disruptive event for English football. It just isnt.
This is perhaps our final chance to regain some relevancy. Regaining it is one thing, sustaining it is quite another matter.
It used to be the big four, then the big six, now arguably the big seven. That's without Villa in the Champions League.
Can we regain and maintain status as a top ten club first of all and then, can we have the odd better season within that like Brighton and Villa?
I'd be more hopeful of doing well in Europe if we get back in.
I think we are a bigger club than Spurs. They just do enough to hang in there, they are like unwanted guests at a party, they don't leave. But they are always in the conversation so to speak without ever threatening to win anything save from Pochettinos time. "Emulating" them doesn't seem very inspiring but I'd settle for it over the next decade with a pot or two thrown in. Heck even a couple of finals. If Atalanta can win the Europa League, Everton can.
It's not what I dreamt of as a 10 year old. But it would do until Friedkin sells us to Qatar.
