I thought the same, when the EPL rights went out I thought we'd see Netflix, Prime and DAZN in the mix. Sky and BT got the rights.

I think even since then tech has moved on mate, there is a whole population of people watching any game they choose now through a variety of means - which makes the product offered by Sky and BT, redundant and non cost effective and ultimately will be unsustainable, unless they adapt.

The only way to compete is match it or be left behind. Granted the 3:00pm black out is an issue.

The broadcaster, FA, Legislators and PL all have to look at it, because they are loosening market share all the time, its not sustainable.

Cut out the middleman have a direct Premier League streaming service. As long as it's a shared endeavour and individual clubs not selling their own games. Could actually keep a minority of games on terrestrial TV as well in that scenario as not everyone is online or have a good enough setup.

I think this week marks 4 weeks since the announcement about a deal being reached over the takeover. Hopefully we get some news soon about regulatory approval, and then by the middle/end of November we are all done. Richard Keys trying to stir it up on TV saying it has gone worryingly quiet. I reckon for now no news is good news.

4 weeks since the 8-12 week fit and proper process started = Commence operation soil ourselves.

Sky actually have the tech good to go mate - i was living in OZ and New Zealand for a bit in 2007 and at the equivalent of Sat 3:00pm in the UK i could pick what game i wanted to watch live out of all them - same way Sky can do it on last game of the season and you can flip around games. It was Fox Sports which was essentially the Murdoch equivalent in the Sothern Hemisphere.

What's crazy is you have access to more English PL games anywhere in the world then in UK. Ireland to for that matter.

Peacock streaming service in the U.S. is very impressive too. All 3pm KO’s live same time and pick your choice, toggle between fixtures at your leisure.

Just find it pathetic every country apart from the one the league is played in can do this.

Its actually bonkers mate.

The other thing is the blackout only exists really in the UK for the PL.

In most of the other Top European leagues there is no blackout and their footballing pyramid hasn't collapsed.

A lot of PL clubs, even Championship clubs have a waiting list for season tickets or fans find it hard to get tickets - how can these willing payers see their clubs game - when no one wants to take their money.

All of the major sports in the US have blackouts by region. You can buy an NFL package for the season, $500 or so, to see most of the games, but if you don't you're stuck with whatever they put on the broadcast.

Plus actually stops most of the re streams would have no problem paying for good quality, also be great change not have the usual crap on comentary unless was like a main event game

The reason we don't have it here is because clubs want extra revenue from the match days.

The horse has bolted mate and still stadiums are full. They wouldn’t be providing anything that doesn’t already exist.

A whole other debate but also think it’s a bit ageist and not really accommodating of multiple diversities - I know loads of historic season ticket holders who through age, just find hard to get to the stadium and go to the games through health or increased frailty, when we all need a walking aid or the like - will we just be locked out of seeing our team every week.

Exactly mate, it would be providing a legit option to compete with something already there (allegedly)!

Also a huge money spinner!

I think it would be, and it might put an end to the ridiculous kick off times we all have to endure maybe every game would be 3pm kick offs on a Saturday since it wouldn't be making you anymore money being at a different time

It’s about 100 euro + per month for a Sky subscription and the current 3.00pm blackout where you can’t pick a game - after a 12 month intro offer - more if your internet is with them as well.
