Does appear from social media (the ever reliable social media) that Bell and Downing have been invited to join the board.

If so, it at least represents a well thought through process, it's not jobs for the jobs and it's business men who will hopefully have a mutually beneficial role off everton. Take a good salary, whilst helping generate Evertin record income.

Just waiting for the club to announce the takeover is off now.

Don't even say that.

LOL.

What are you talking about?

BK was the owner of the club, he leaned into the whole fan as a boy thing but it wasn't that we collectively wanted an Everton fan as owner and found BK.

Just to be clear, what we're talking about is a professional person, who is qualified, to sit on the board, who also happens to be a fan. Are you suggesting all the people we've hated over the years in CEO and other prominent board positions were put there because they were fans?!?!? That's not my impression at all. Was the person who signed all the horrible commercial deals a big toffee? Was the person who lied about Everton fans attacking board members a lifelong fan? Is Denise a bluenose? Maybe she is ... this just isn't something I've heard anyone complaining about before.

How is this a thing you're worried about ... when has it been one of our issues? I genuinely can't think of a single time when "that attitude and cronyism has cost us dearly" ... what you on about? Three examples please.
A lot of people fell for kenwrights biggest blue on the planet act otherwise he would have been chased out years ago think that’s what he ment

I think it will be a good thing tbh, we need a board with proper business people on it who can offer sensible input from a variety of backgrounds.

I can understand some peoples hesitancy due to the only apparent requisite for previous board members was either being a local or an Evertonian. However, it makes sense for the Friedkins to have the likes of Bell and Downing on the board as non-exec directors.

They are both successful businessmen in their own right, the fact that they are also Evertonians is a bonus. Obviously the overriding factor for any board member is their experience and qualifications however, being life long Evertonians Bell & Downing will hopefully understand fan perspective and sentiment and be able to advise the Friedkins accordingly when and where necessary.

One of the biggest issues they have with Roma is their relationship with the fans, they will surely want to do all that they can not to repeat the mistakes they have made there.

In addition, Downing is a successful property developer and if we are seriously looking at buying land around Nelson Dock and developing it then his background and experience would be a huge positive.

I do think that while the reflexive view that having Evertonians on the board is small-time, insular and too cosy is understandable, it is I think misguided.

That wariness in the fanbase comes from the Kenwright-influenced jobs for the boys culture that pervaded for decades.

But the polar opposite - a bunch of cold, profit-driven suits who know little about the club or the people of Merseyside - is bad for a whole host of very different reasons.

We need a bit of everything on the board. We need business acumen, intelligence, money, contacts - and we also need people who understand what it means to be an Evertonian.

Being an Evertonian shouldn't be a qualifier or disqualifier to serving on the board.
