Or the, if you're bored then do some research for me and I'll thank you somehow.

This laptop is on its way out, the hinge on the screens broken and its doing my head in. I was going to wait until this Windows 7 business but it cant wait.

I need a laptop for around £500, preferably a 14 inch screen one with 2GB of RAM minimum and not Acer or something like that.

Impossible? Help.

If you find something boss then link me and if I buy it then I owe you brother.

Im absolutely sh*te at bargain hunting.

The one I got was less than 500, it's pretty good apart from the HD was small, and Vista eats space.

Just bought a power supply from Geeks.com - Computer parts, Laptop computers, Desktop computers, Computer hardware ... top-notch price and quick shipping.

It's a US site, tho.

As for a laptop ... I'm on my gateway now. Been using for four years, no probs. I'm runing Kubuntu (linux) on it, tho. Don't rate windows much.

Here's a link to a new one:
Gateway MPC E-475 Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz 2GB 120GB DVD±RW 15.4" Vista Business Gateway E-475

Price conversion says its about 400pounds. (plus shipping, of course)

Dell Studio 15? I'll probably get a Dell laptop if I choose one since I've been fairly happy with the main workhorse computer. Had a Compaq before and a Toshiba laptop - both pretty reliable (but I don't put all kinds of junk on them). Hated all the crap you got preloaded on Acer.

Or a Dell Inspiron 12 if you like the mini-ones (but the screen size is smaller than what you want).

Chico, I've bought the children a Dell 1525. 15 inch screen. Silver. They love it. I'm not keen on vista though as it seems very pastel and unclear - eats memory too, I'm told. All for under £400 delivered in about three days, I think. Dell online. I dealt with the dreaded Call Centre in Bangalore and although it's hard work and you have to repeat yourself, the lady I spoke to reduced the price and threw in MSoft windows for nowt (so she told me...)

For my work, I've got a Toshiba Equium (?) 233 for my desk and a Samsung NC10 for when I travel. The Tosh I rent from PC world at £27 a month. The Samsung is brilliant as its tiny (about the size of a big textbook) and is great for stuffing in my case when I'm working away. And about £350. I've no complaints about any of these.

I was gonna say that I got an Acer aspire at Xmas , but you seem to be sorted , kid . Four ton . Shoulve been five . Theyre right about Vista though .
Mind you , built in webcam and skype.com is a hoot .
Im made up with it , but I dont use it for work .

Isn't Vista ****e? My missus bought a PC about 6 or so months ago, and it caused all sorts of issues. Fortunately, her school (she's a teacher, not a pupil ) gave her a new laptop with XP installed. Much better system in my opinion.

I use a Mac, that's what you should have looked at Chico.
