The impending forward crisis

I hope I'm wrong, but it seems to me the club have made a calculation: the combined goal threat from 16/18 games off DCL + Danjuma + Doucoure + McNeil will get us the goals to keep us a couple of points ahead of 3 other teams at the end of this season.

It looks like they're going to try that this season...and it's not a stretch to imagine it because we're in familiar territory - we saw last season that this is their mindset. A game of Russian Roulette with our PL status.

They're up for that, dont for a second think they aren't.
 
Everton scored a paltry 34 goals last season and only 4 of them were scored by what could be described as a forward: 2 for DCL, 1 for Maupay, 1 for Simms.

Any club serious about putting matters right makes the signing of a new forward top priority as soon as last season ended.

That Everton haven't landed a forward by now tells you they dont give a flying one about the organisation and it's survival, and it also underlines the utter contempt they have for their own fans who pay their wages.

It's hard to disagree with your opinion on this; we'll know in a couple of weeks whether it's true.

If DCL fails to make his come back or picks up a new injury then we will really be in trouble, again.

Let's put it this way, it's more likely to come true than not.

Do we really believe that if there was any genuine interest in signing a forward it'd have been left until 2 weeks before the season started?

No chance.

We always leave our business until late as do a lot of clubs.

Or are they just completely incompetent?

….but it seems a pointless risk. Monies are being spent on areas of less priority, it doesn’t make sense.

I’m more of a view they genuinely think DCL will be fit, firing and available this season. What we see as high risk, they see as low risk. What we forecast as high risk this time last season, they saw as low risk. We were right, they were wrong. It’s what you get when 3 men running the show aren’t proper football men.

I’ve described it as incompetence & I think that’s what it is.

lampard said this time last year ...who could forsee dcl getting injured. it was this comment that I lost interest in him as our manager. it was a ignorant comment to fans who pay their hard earned money watching the club.

the world could see the high probability of dcl getting injured. the same this year. he is unfortunately through no fault of his own an injury prone player and should be have been considered 2nd choice or back up last season. we spent money on other positions and similiar this year where a center forward is the ultimate priority.

buy a starting center forward everton. sell players to do so if ye have to. do not buy players that we have cover in. do not buy ones for the future. we need a starting forward. buy a center forward who can be considered as our number one.

Agree entirely.

We have been crying out for two goal scoring strikers for four transfer windows - it will be incredible if we fail to get one this time around.
