The most pathetic anti-ground move argument I've heard yet...

Just received a leaflet through the door from "KRAG" (Kirkby Residents Action Group)

Bullet points on the leaflet

* i would be so frightened to walk around thr town centre area when a football match was playing,. people dont like sonae on our doorstep, dont leave it too late this time.
For those who dont know, sonae is a factory that pumps aload of crap into the atmosphere. (Burns chipboard). How they can draw a comparision between the two is beyond me.

Discraceful that one of our secondary schools would be scrapped to make way for commercial gain.
This is just a damn right lie. The schools are getting knocked down and rebuilt, and one a good distance away from the ground has been rumoured to be closing for 5/6 years.

Anti social behaviour is already a problem in Kirkby, wont this make it worse? "eg "the battle of Everton Valley"
 You have to laugh...
My house has already lost £20k in value due to the proposal.
Now, this sums up the idiot who wrote this. Since when would a proposal like this reduce such a vast amount? Surely they mean "gained 20k"?

Thats just a few, couldn't be bothered typing the rest of it up (nor reading it for that matter), but if you want to laugh at the people who have nothing better to do with their lives ... then krag@btinternet.com

Lived in Kirkby all my life and obviously know a lot of people here as a result, no one has said anything negative about the ground move.

Also worth mentioning that its ran by kopites (all kopites). No surprise there...

In fact, I will quote someone I know on kipper;

Apologies. It's KRAG.

Kirkby Residents Action Group. Evertonians who are allied to a group of Liverpool Supporters based in Kirkby who are part of a group that was set up by somebody on the sick, who is well enough to do two trips to Europe a week on ciggie runs is different though. KRAG should be called KAE. Kopites Against Everton. That is exactly what they are.

A Red who is on the sick with nothing better to do has set them up to try and stop Everton moving here. He obviously doesn't need any of the new jobs it will create.

He's in Athens now like.

Must be good money, not working.

Am tempted to write an article on them, am email them to discuss it.

[Poor language removed] them.

If liverpool council, and a fair percentage of the goodison crowd cant stop the fantastic deal knowsley council have given to Everton then what chance do a bunch of arse holes stand.

What really annoys an baffles me is these groups keep going on at Everton. If they had a brain between them they would realise it would be better to moan to Liverpool city council to offer a better site. I mean, it was them who handed stanley park to Liverpool after turning us down.

It does my [Poor language removed] head in.

Some of these groups are formed by people who sit on their arse all day doing [Poor language removed] all. Im from Kirkby too and if I was resident I would welcome the project for the money it would bring to the area and for the increase of our profile, Kirkby has been a dirty word for too many years but Im proud of where Im from.

They kick off about Sonae. My best mate works in there and has a good job, he knows what comes out of that chimney. Its steam. Steam from drying the wood. Naturally I wind him up and talk about kids being born with eighteen fingers and all that but I believe him, the bored angry mob just made a big thing about it.

As for being scared to walk around the towny on match days, get to [Poor language removed]. It will be no worse than its ever been (which is not half as bad as its made out). Are the local resident of Walton scared to walk around on match day?

Some great people live in Kirkby. The small minority try to ruin it by taking it on themselves to find fault in things that would benefit the town with jobs. They have no interest in the jobs as they have no interest in working themselves.
Their protests are act bourne out of frustration that they have sat bored with too much time on their hands. Its an act of attention seeking.

Im all for fighting being exploited by the big corporations but at the expense of holding Kirkby back. Many, many people have held it back for too long.

But then thats my opinion, and doesnt mean its right. The only way to find out whether the move is acceptable for the residents is to let all of them vote.

Jackie Mundos pizza is sound.

I wonder as a matter of interest where these fuckers in KRAG or KAE actually live in Kirkby, are they within a few hundred yards of where the stadium is to be or the otherside of Westvale, Northwood or Southdene.

i am only new to kirkby, but live in southdene, probably only about 5 mins walk from proposed site

ive had these letters through the door, but the only people i have heard saying anything against the move, live in the houses that would be knocked down

went for a pint in kirkby town centre yesterday and while walking between pubs i was thinking about how the area could alter if it all went ahead. everything i thought of seemed positive.

must of looked daft sitting there, laughing to myself about all the daft things said in the letter

ps. was going to buy a house on cherryfield drive, (opposite new sports centre, about 2min walk from proposed site) about 3 years ago. it was up for £65,000. the people who bought it have sold it this year for more than double that. so much for values dropping by £20,000

I live by there mate, (on same road as St Laurences school). Houses on Cherryfield only £65k 3 years ago? You sure? Think I might be getting confused with another area but houses on the same road as the new sports centre and opposite all saints are easy £250+k now... isn't that road Cherryfield?

I know the area and I may be wrong but I believe the 65k value that the houses held a while ago were the "right to buy" prices(if they are the ex council houses that I am thinking about). The open market price was about 140k at the time, so yes, they have still doubled in price.

like I said, I may be wrong.
