The reason why we won't sign fernandes

Player Valuation: £40m
If I remember correctly, we borrowed sky money in advance at the start of this season to finance the purchase of johnson. That's 8 million gone from whatever price money we will get at the end of the season.

As Bruce have mention what we will be getting for price money is about 17 million, that will leave us with 9million to spend in the summer(inclusive wages for the next season). We also bought lescott and howard.

Unless we borrow again, or sell some players, I don't see us able to spend big in the transfer market again. I hope I'm wrong.

Bruce, do you have any clearer indication of our financial state and estimated available fund so that we can have some sensible expectation for the next few mths?

The Sky money is considerably more than the Johnson transfer fee though so we'll have money left over. It's Friday night so I'm not going to pick through the accounts tonight but it's rare for Moyes to sign players on loan if we don't have the money to buy them at the end. The likes of Ferarri weren't retained because Moyes didn't fancy them rather than not being able to afford them and it would be strange to have gone to all the trouble to get Fernandes here on loan (remember how long it took?) to have no chance of signing him full time. I don't believe he goes in for short term fixes so fully expect us to sign him.

Boy Bruce I love your confidence and I hope your dead right on this one. I think Moyes does try to stay by the book. I think you have read this one correctly.(y)

Bruce, I hope you're correct. If it's fernandes, then there's no way we will get barton as well. To me, it's a correct choice!

I may be right I may be wrong(enter Bruce) Was the money that was borrowed against the sky money paid back. AJ was signed at the start of the window, We received the sky money at the start of the season(8 or so weeks later, I thought we get the sky stuff at the start of the season, not the end) so that means the debt is paid, and we are not carrying it to the start of this window, if you know what I mean. Just a thought. Not sure though. (like all things you get the money at the start, not the end, CPL, UEFA, etc). So it should not affect any transactions made this window. Like I said, not positive, but am fairly sure.

Until the annual report comes out it's hard to say as clubs seldom declare quite how they finance a particular transfer.

No worries Bruce mate, but do you see what I mean? I think Wyness is too astute to have allowed borrowing that would affect this seasons transfer coffers. I am sure it was just a very short term loan against prospected revenue, but that revenue was the guaranteed sky pay packet, which is why Moyes had virtually nothing after the season started.

Moyes isn't a gambler so I suspect the money did balance out, either at the start of the season or with the addition of the Kilbane/Davies money. The one thing that concerned me from the last report was the turnover/wages ratio. I think it was close to 70%, which is very high, although that included the players signed for the CL campaign.

It will be interesting to see this years.

Make sure you pick the bones and let us all know the juicy bits brucey! :D

btw. I thought we paid half for lescott and AJ and the next half next season?
