Anyone but moyes. He insulted the club and fan base when he milked the applause and Kenwright gave him his lap of honour. Can never forgive that.
He did and I couldn't stand him at the time.

I think he faced a fair bit of humiliation at United and wasn't he sacked following our game with them?

I was please for him when he won the conference league with West Ham, so I'm ok with him taking over.

He's not what I would have wanted, but it makes sense and I can't imagine there would be many waning to take over this squad in this position.

If he can sort this club and team out a bit, get us a solid top 10 team then that would give us a great chance to kick on with an exciting younger manager.

If you’re looking for us to hire in a manger without a blemish on his record, it’ ain’t going to happen.
Not at all, but to paint Moyes as a manager who has only ever done good things is disingenuous. He was brought in to help Sunderland in similar circumstances and took them down. He flopped hard at Sociedad. Even his time here wasn’t all positive.

Last time we were in a similar boat we hired Dyche while one of our relegation rivals from that period hired Emery. Palace hired Glasner when they were in the muck. Universally positive moves? No, but each made a fundamental change in approach and implemented something to build on. We are - again - panicking and going for the old/British/PL experience option.

It sounds like they had/have someone lined up to take over in the summer. If Dyche has pretty much told the owners he doesn’t think he can do any more then it makes absolute sense to move him on.

Moyes joined Sunderland on a 4 year deal in July. They'd been in the Prem for 10 years. His massively negative attitude and approach "it'll be a miracle if we stay up" during his announcement went some way to sending them down. As per last post, when he joined West Ham twice, both around this stage of the season - he never improved them vs the previous manager that same season.

Good point on Villa with Emery, and Palace with Glasner.

Perpetuating mediocrity. Moyes may keep us safe, or maybe not, but even if he does avoid relegation we will remain lower reaches of the division and that will likely continue until contract expires or sacked. We will then be in a no better situation and contract another firefighter to get us safe, and so it goes on and on and on and on........

Is this an argument FOR us hiring another in a line of dinosaur “relegation specialists”, two of whom have been involved in the aforementioned disaster?
It's the fact we need to accept our position and take our medicine, it's January for a start, who is leaving their current club who can save us, get players in on a seemingly small budget and also be sexy enough for the super blues to love?

I get the hate for Moyes but the simple fact is there isn't that much out there right now but don't let me stop you and Dave shouting into the wind.

Villa and Palace both had different squad qualities and different financial outlooks. It’s not as though the club could have got Emery and went for Dyche. Moshiri used to go for the biggest name he could get and often got them. But it’s simply the strength of your proposition.

Everton in mid table with Richarlison Mina Digne Bernard Gomes and the promise of 100 mill to bring in players you want gets you Carlo Ancelotti. Everton in 19th with no money a rubbish squad and having sold your best player with more sales on the horizon gets you Sean Dyche. Villa had a blank chequebook and a good squad that had already been assembled under Gerrard by the owners. Completely different scenarios. One we might be in after Moues.

Oh man I massively misremembered his time at Sunderland. I always thought he joined mid-season. Putting my incredible footy knowledge to the fore as always.

If appointed, I understand the rationale, as Moyes will probably get the points needed for us march into BMD as a Prem team.

As fans, we know what to expect, and it will not set the pulses racing.

If it were me - I'd offer him 6 months with the option to extend it for another 12 should he meet a certain goal (like finishing with over 40 points, for example). I'd also be asking Carsley if he wants to get involved as well.
