McBain

Player Valuation: £80m
Would you feel like abit of a tool if you are poor Stevie Sidwell?

He just wasted a whole year, and now he has to play for Villa.

What a wally.

Villa would be a good move for him to be honest, i honestly think that they, along with Spurs are our nearest challengers, though i'm surprised at the size of the proposed fee.

he not really have better options last year it was stay reading or join villa chealsea or west ham

I just think he doesn't care and just likes money. He knew he was never getting any PT on Chelsea. He just wanted his 60K/week. He's England's VDM.

i wouldnt go as far as that rook, he's been happy to take the money sure but not stuck 2 fingers up at the chelsea fans by breaking club rules, getting wasted and coming up with crap excuses etc etc. he also started 7 premiership games last year, how far do we have to go back to
a) find 7 prem. games vdm has appeared in
b ) find 7 prem. games he's started

this is a guy who's been playing over 10 years and only made 170 odd apps. he'll be lucky to hit the 200 mark in his career. sidwell has taken the slash lash year and appears to have been happy to sit on the bench and take the cash, he could've done the same again this year so maybe he's realised it was a mistake to go there, saying all that though i dont want him in an everton shirt, his hair is way too davey fairclough for 1.

a player who really is not going to push them on much. 5.5 million.

unlike villa to splash the cash but as they have a smaller squad than us they just need to get the numbers up. he will be a good player for them.... better for them than for us. so good luck to the little ginger nut.

I get a laugh when people say that (It's about the money and not about the football.)

Look, it's real simple here.

He was offered much bigger wages than he was on at Reading and on top of that, the chance to play at a bigger club.

Everyone and their dog here would have taken that deal. Anyone who says they wouldn't is a flat out liar. And don't give me any of this "Yeah but at Reading, I'd be playing more." And naturally, if he didn't take the deal and move to Chelsea, he would have been criticised as having "no ambition."

Yeah sure, in hindsight you would have been but Sidwell made the move and thought he could break into the first team. It didn't work out. Happens all the time in football.

But what really makes me laugh are those who deride him for staying there and picking up those wages while not playing. "He has no ambition !!" "He doesn't care about football, just money !!!" Oh please.

The career of a footballer can be short and for the money he's being paid, and presumably saving, he can set himself and his family up for life. Are you really going to begrudge him that?

As mentioned earlier. It would be one thing if he was a VDM and a waste of the club's resources but the guy can play. Unfortunately for him, he had several class players in front of him at Chelsea. Kinda tough to break into.

And by that same logic, SWP should have left Chelsea and taken a pay cut after his first year as well. Well look at how that turned out. He stayed, fought for a place, and eventually earned more playing time. Could that have happened for Sidwell? Sure it could have but it didn't.

But sure, go ahead and tell him to go from 60k a week or whatever he's on to 20k a week somewhere else? Hahahaha...much easier said that done, especially from this side of the fence.

I'm talking about when he left Reading to go to Chelsea.

funny you should say that about swp, cos last week on talksport his arl fella said if he could go back in time he would never have advised him to go there.

Oh no doubt in hindsight that he shouldn't have made that move.

I've always stated on this forum that the SWP to Chelsea deal was the poster child for "moving for a better paycheck to a bigger club isn't always in your best interests."
