So, Hamilton sneaks it from Alonso! Well in Lewis!!!
Lewis Hamilton had played second fiddle to McLaren Mercedes team-mate Fernando Alonso throughout practice, but when it counted, the Montreal race winner showed his pace and claimed Pole Position for the United States Grand Prix.
It was an all McLaren battle for supremacy again, as was the case in Canada a week ago. Alonso had enjoyed a flawless weekend, topping the timesheets in all three practice sessions, but Hamilton stopped the clocks with a best lap of 1:12.331s, 0.169s ahead of Alonso.
As Hamilton enjoys his second straight Pole Position, the Ferrari team seemed unable to take up the challenge for the pole, but will nonetheless be relatively content to line up on the second row with Felipe Massa ahead of Kimi Raikkonen. As it stands, the F2007 is no match to the MP4-22 in qualifying trim.
