ghost - i know you are a ramsey fan, which means your tv bound on tuesday evenings, which means i could put a decent sum of cash on you watching 'oz and james wine adventure' - which, in no small means has been fantastic.

definately inspired by ''sideways''.

i digress.

we have the new world rules and the established old world ways (france), cabernet sauvignon is supposedly the grape, i tried a few riojas recently, wasnt impressed, same with chianti, (fava beans anyone?) - if i can swing it, champagne new years, lets see how that sits.

try a reisling from kendermans called a kalkstein.

you can get it in tescos.

its a bit like a cheap version of a sancerre, different grape but you know what I mean.

minerally, clean, crisp as so dry you feel like you feel like you've got a cats tongue.

Not really a white wine drinker unless its the summer. Red grape all the way. Looking forward to getting some nice bottled for Christmas.

I used to serve Sancerre and it wasn't cheap. Nobody complained though, but then who does?

I must have served a 1000 bottles of wine and not one person said, "no its not that nice", mind you most of the clients thought corked meant bits of cork floating in the bottle.
:)

reisling is german?

they can do some good wines too, tell the truth, im no wine connoisseir (that spelling doesnt look right) cant remember series one fully when they drove up to the borders in search of classic dry white german wines, (crazy slopes that killed the jag)

well its a grape, as you know, but its kind of synonymous with germany. They produced loads of sweet horrible reisling wines, but have started to produce some dry wines that are very very under appreciated.
