It is here in Wales mate not raining yet,

Yeah, I was kinda surprised that the university where I teach (James Madison) is closed today. I actually managed to get into the office yesterday to do some work, and things on campus were pretty cleared up (though the streets in the town were still a huge mess). But then I learned that many of the student's apartment complexes are completely covered with snow, to the point that no one can get out at all. So perhaps another day for plowing/shoveling/clearing is best.

Definitely best. Do not want people trying to commute still. I know Fairfax schools here are closed through Tuesday. I'm more worried about the melting and freezing cycle and driving on layers of ice than the snow.

I've been to that part of the USA as it happens but didn't realise the weather could be like that!

It can. A few years ago we had a series of three winter storms that dumped about 10" each. Not very common but we're not safe from anything.
