I updated the site with news of the kit, embedded a locally hosted image of about 2MB and in my wisdom signposted to the article on social media, 20k visits in minutes downloading that image, as well as me syncing the forum thread to the home page update with 1,000+ replies did the server in.
Should be fine from now.
