I cannot believe that Sunderland are looking to sign Chopra for 5m! This just goes to show what a crazy time we are living in. 6m for Nugent, 5m for Chopra- AJ looks an absolute steal at £8.6m now! Can you imagine if we were to sign Cahill from the championship now- £10m???!!

It is most definitely a sellers market and I can only see it getting worse before it gets better. We have a tight budget and I would prefer we spent it sensibly rather than splash it for the sake of it i.e. Sunderland. They seem to have money but cant attract players to come so they are paying over the odds for very average players.

Moyes has done brilliantly so far, if the richardson deal goes through we will have had improved the squad and spent less than 8m.

We have to pay the prices I suppose. Maybe Moyes is doing his bargaining now and then saving a chunk to buy at 'market prices'.

I hope were not skint. We missed the boat two years ago after qualifying for Europe by not buying correct.

But anyways, I is not panicing. I will wait until 31st August.

Only problem chico is a lot of the better players are getting snapped up now and i think like last year as the transfer window moves nearer to closing prices go up.
Your right about 2 years ago we did miss the boat and when we get injuries our paper thin squad will suffer again unless there are some more buys and i think to be fair to moyes he is trying but for some reason the money isn,t there,i know we have time but the silence coming out of goodison is worrying.
 

It may well work out the other way round - mediocre players are going for ridiculous fees right now, but by late July / early August when the others have shot their budgets on the high profile players, there may be bargains about. The consensus seems to be that with the exception of full-back and perhaps left-mid, we're not necessarily looking for starters, more for players to fill out the squad - where these bargains would be a good value for money fit.

I also suspect some additional movement after the Copa America. Remember - that's when we'll complete the Riquelme signing :)

Im just not getting excited over Jagielka and Richardson signings. I trust Moyes to deliver but I just hope we can make a signing that would define our ambition for the following season, someone who could add that bit of class. It doesnt mean spunking a load of money on one player who the media loves (the type of signing you would expect Newcastle to make to get the yellow banner on Sky Sports News) just someone that you know will get the juices going for next season.

In fairness I would be happy if we got Fernandes for another season. I just dont want to see us missing the boat again, that [Poor language removed] two years ago was typical Everton and I dont want a return to the dark days.

I like being on teletext league table page 1/2.
