FFS Im sick of people having kneejerk reactions about players obviously just needing a confidence boost and time and declaring that they need to be sold right this minute this is Grand Old Team not Bluekipper!!!

Sadly, there's always (in my thirty or forty years of living memory) been an overly large section of our fanbase that reacts this way. I put it down to the largely disappointing Seventies when we were constantly trying to catch up with that lot across the park as they entered their glory years. Until then, Evertonians had no need to feel inferior - any setbacks were temporary. As that decade wore on, frustrations grew and grew - as if it wasn't bad enough that we singularly failed to capitalise on a splendid Sixties rounded off by a golden era Championship winning team, our close neighbours shifted up several gears to national and European domination. As they became schooled in continuity and patience and the feeling that it wouyld all work out ok in the end, we learnt to snarl and spit and turn on our own, often not giving time or credit where it was due.

Maybe I'm talking out of turn here but I've always hated the knee-jerk nature of our support and the venomous way it manifests itself.

I suppose it's a fine line between demanding the best and behaving like a deluded **** -as our usurious rent-a-team cousins over the way are now showing only too well.

Agree that the knee jerking can be very annoying. Too liken it to Kipper though, is a bit too much imho. At least you can have a civilized debate on here with these knee jerkers, without being called all kind of names under the sun.

In the defence of Kipper, it still can be good fun browsing that forum. Just read the accidental penis thread on there and it had me in stitches.

I was called a paedophile on kipper, I'm all for banter but that's not on - particularly since I'm a parent.
