TICK WARNING!

I hate it when people forward bogus warnings, and I have even done it myself a couple times unintentionally... But this one is real, and it's important. So please send this warning to everyone you care about.

If someone comes to your front door saying they are checking for ticks due to the warm weather and asks you to take your clothes off and dance around with your arms up, DO NOT DO IT!! THIS IS A SCAM!! They only want to see you naked.

I wish I'd gotten this yesterday. I feel so stupid.

Sorry, I didn't mean any harm

I actually had a tick on my rib cage yesterday. I got the body off but missed the head. My wife got the rest of it off earlier on today. There are millions of the little bloodsuckers where I live. The cats bring them in, get into our bed, and deposit the ones not yet attached. Hey presto, they get you instead of them.

Tick tip: Twist between two fingers anti-clockwise. Usually that'll take head and body. Oh yeah, and avoid ticks that'll pass Lyme's Disease onto you.

Frontline is your friend for the cats. That and making them indoor cats :P

Lyme disease is nasty. It is common out here too. Ticks, nasty little bastards.

Have similar problem in the pond I have to catch them then remove the nasty thing with a pair of pliars seventeen at last count but all clear now(y)

The big ticks are the best to get rid of. But there is also the miniature tick that attaches itself and it is almost impossible to take it cleanly. You end up literally scraping the little devil off with you finger nails. We're in the middle of a forest and the deer bring them down when they graze. If you walk in shorts overland and through long grass between May and September you get literally covered in them.

And frontline is okay, but it doesn't stop the ticks completely. It merely lessens the impact, at least on cats (not personally tried it).
