Tim Cahill - an Everton executive?

Can’t have it both ways.

Unsworth and sharp are jobs for the boys but because we like Cahill and baines it’s not.

The whole place is a circus, romantic old has beens appointing their mates based on memories of trying hard.

Cahill appointed because he was a good trier and went to the Middle East for a bit. What qualifies him for an exec role?

Fans on here will be saying Cahill is welcome, not because he’s actually qualified but because he did a nice bicycle kick at Stamford bridge. And we wonder why we’re not the mess we are! Liquidate the club

So you know nothing about what hes been doing then apart from "went to the middle east for a bit".

Another "He gets Everton" appointment if this is true.

Absolute madness from the club if this is true.

Brilliant move to get Cahill in.

Out of all the ‘jobs for the boys’ situations we have, Baines and possibly Cahill would be among the few id welcome. Both seem smart and knowledgable, they would clearly be able to work formothers if they wanted. Its not a help Dunc pay off his debt kinda thing.

Love Tim true legend/ambassador for the club. But honestly can't see the value he'll add. It's almost like the board mugging us off with, this'll please ermmm. No mate!

How about we just employ the best possible candidate for the role rather than worrying about their ''Do they get Everton?'' status. If Cahill is qualified for the job with a wealth of knowledge and experience or forward thinking ideas then get him in.

Was at the game.

I wonder what role theyre considering him for? Perhaps DOF itself ?

We'll show the old boys how Timmy gets a high profile job in the board.

He'll work his way up, like normal people. Toilet attendant, maintenance Manager. By BMD time...

He'll be ready for everything, having reviewed the club's tops and bottoms.

How can there be though?

Moshiri is the owner, if Kenwright is going against him, he has the scope and the fan support to sack him.

I do get your point. Simple as. Kenwright wanted Martinez in the summer, Moshiri didn’t. Now we went for Martinez again, what changed in 6 months? A boardroom at loggerheads is never a good thing.
Shouldn't be allowed to make another football decision based on this alone.

Cahill would be a good appointment. Very smart guy and IMO will be a success in whatever field he goes into.

He's more than capable of doing a good job in an executive role in a football club. Would be a strong influential voice in the boardroom and challenge the numpties that are simply there to tell each other how great they are.

Ticks a lot of boxes. A lot of people talking guff and writing him off as a 'jobs for the boys' appointment just because he played for Everton.

I think the whole jobs for the boys schtick doesnt make sense really.

Cahill has been successful on 4 different continents. He now runs a football club, and academy very successfully. He has gone to Harvard university, the top university in tbe world, and got a degree in business from there. The idea he cant improve what we currently have at board level is insulting.

I think we have to move beyond this idea that just because you have played for the club, that defines someone and makes them bad. Was Royle jobs for the boys? Or Kendall? Or Catterick?

I've read up on everything he's done post Everton mate, have to say it's massively impressive, if there is one former player qualified to be spearheading a total restructuring of the club it's him.

Yes me too and I agree. I think I said the other day, it's a but lazy to lump him in with a lot of the fellas who are getting jobs at least partially out of charity.

He has done fantastic work over in Qatar. The big thing that strikes me, is that he was working for a country that had lots of money to throw at a problem, and getting nowhere, and he essentially started to produce results. A big part of it was him stating that money alone isnt a solution if theres no plan with it. Hes built from the ground up, and is very specific and thorough in what he looks to do. Initially he sort of said, I dont need money, we need process. Essentially he seems tailor made to suit what is needed here.

I'll be honest, the "jobs for the boys" thing works in our favour on this one. He could have his choice of clubs, and in honesty I dont think we would have much if a chance if it wasnt for his connection to the club.

I dont know what role they would earmark for him. I said the other day, I'd happily have him as an academy director, DOF, footballing side CEO or as someone who doesnt have a specific remit but is there as a problem solver. The latter would probably be my preference, with a DOF working into him.

I'd kinda hope thst he's have the scope without interference to restructure as basically he seems to understand how and why it's neccesary and that there's no simple fix due to money
